Quaint and traditional Dutch cafe just a short walk away from Zannse Schans

De Groene Smaak is a great place for lunch after visiting the Dutch village of Zannse Schans. This restaurant is much less touristy and expensive than the places to eat in area. The cafe is cozy and quaint and full of locals. The staff are bilingual and will help you make sense of the great... read more

Yvonne, the owner took such care of us for our breakfast. The food was fresh and hot, made with care. We had omlettes, fresh bread, homemade jellies, fresh made OJ and coffee at a fair price. This is also a local grocery store so residents were shopping while we ate. The Groene Smaak is located a short walk from Zaansa... More

We had a lunch there after visiting De Zaans Schanes. It's a small and homely place to shelter in after all the rumble of Zaans Schanes. The hosts are extremely helpful and the service is great. The food is located in a glass counter so you can pick your own choice. You get what you see - it's home made,... More

If you are visiting the beautiful landscape of Zaanse Schans windmills, skip the snack bars and small restaurants near the touristic zone and find De groene smaak. This nice place is close to the bridge on the river, at the border of the most charateristic block of Zandijk. You can find an interesting menu with recipes from all the world.... More

We ate here after exploring the windmills of Zaanse Schanse and then the wooden houses of Zaandijk. All of the food looked really good, fresh and colourful. We had a very tasty, light meal that was nicely presented. We also bought some of their old fashioned Dutch sweets for our daughter. Alongside, there were a bunch of twigs, and we... More

We ate here on our last night of a stay near Zaanse Schanse. It's really a deli type food shop where you can eat rather than a restaurant. The food was great. Simple, tasty and nicely served. Charged by the plate size, we had the medium size upon which you could choose 4 items from their chiller cabinet for €10... More

This place is so inviting, the house begs you to enter and then stay while you peruse all the fresh and healthy dishes ready to eat. It is fun to stop in, whether hungry or not and a great place to grab a coffee (you cannot take it to go) a seat and map out some plans for the day.... More

A bunch of us stumbled upon this place after getting slightly lost. It looks like a grocer hop but when you go inside they sell some great food. The lady (owner) was very polite, and explained how everything worked and the prices of everything. She took out names and asked us what we wanted from the home make dishes behind... More
