A novel setting for an excellent, hearty lunch!

We were impressed enough with the simple fact that we were eating our lunch in a carefully preserved railway carriage from the age of steam. Then, when the hearty, homemade soups and proper doorstep sandwiches came out, we were even happier. It really was a delicious and filling lunch, served by... read more

Stopped for breakfast while driving from Mallaig through to Blackpool. This authentic vintage dining car has been perfectly restored to its original grandeur but has potable water and an awesome chef/menu. We enjoyed delicious toasties and they even had gluten free bread and scones!! Their coffee was superb and properly brewed versus the typical americanos we have been finding. The... More

This restaurant is located in a retired railroad dining car, with the original fixtures mostly intact and the addition of heating and running water. The food is basic but very good -- we had homemade soup and sandwiches, the soup costing just one pound more if ordered with a sandwich. Fresh bread and good relishes, and free tickets to the... Great place for a coffee and cake, or tea and scone. Setting is wonderful in an old railway carriage with lovely views over the glen. Food was fabulous and I can recommend the scones and tiffin. Staff were very friendly and helpful with all sorts of things, including train times. It you eat here you also get free entry into... More

A lovely cafe/restaurant located in an old rail carriage adjacent to the Port William to Armidale railway. The views of the surrounding hills make this as unique location. The food and service is very good and well worth a visit.

I had been on a walk (fairly epic by my standards) around the Glenfinnan viaduct and monument, and initially called in just for a quick snack of a coffee and a freshly made shortbread. Having visited the museum earlier in the day I got 10% off this order. Whilst enjoying my snack, I couldn't help but eye up the food... More

Having spent the whole day in Glenfinnan, we finished our trip at this quite extraordinary restaurant. It had just started to rain, so it was a great shelter as well. We had soup and toasties - delicious indeed. And the view - beautiful. Would definitely recommend.
