After seeing the signs for the dining car and wanting to avoid the visitor centre we stopped here for lunch. Our 7 year old daughter was enthralled with the novelty of it all! Our Lentil and Ham soup was 'different' but was actually quite delicious (if a bit salty for our liking). Toasties were great. We didn't see Glenfinnan on... More

As my partner and I where staying in the sleeping car we thought it would be a great idea to also do lunch in the dining car during our stay. What can I say, it was fantastic, the place was very quiet when we arrived for lunch and the waitress was busy cleaning the sleeping car, it was spotless and... More

My husband and I stumbled upon this delight while driving across Scotland. I was just happy to find an open restaurant, but the friendly staff, the wonderful food and the view made it all that much better. Unfortunately we arrived about 10 minutes ahead of a steam train, so our tranquil meal was short-lived. We watched as people milled around... More

Great location and fantastic views from the verandah. Unfortunately we had to sit inside as it was one of those rare Scottish days when the sun made it too hot! However it's lovely inside and we had fantastic soup and sandwiches. A great experience at a great price

I had read the reviews but they really didn't due it justice in regards to the quality of the food available. I had mushroom soup and a sandwich which were both very good. Many tourists visit the area and there is not many places to eat during the day apart from the visitor center at Glenfinnan monument which is the... More

Disappointed by the somewhat overrun café at the Visitor Centre, we drifted up to the station with no set plan. The Dining Car was a great surprise. The lunch menu was comprehensive - we had two different very tasty and hot home made soups. Obviously it's not fine dining but sitting in a 1950s train carriage added a bit of... More

Friendly hotel, with welcoming staff. The room we stayed in was large and had a fantastic view of the Loch and Ben Nevis. The food was great and well priced. Well worth visiting.

Really delicious and hearty soup. Tasty baking and good value. Friendly service. Lovely interior and surprisingly comfortable. Good views. A real touch of railway nostalgia.

After visiting the museum, we decided to stop for a cup of tea in the Dining Car. This quickly turned into lunch when we saw the menu. My friend and I both had soup with a toastie, and our partners had the venison broth. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and it is just a true gem of... More

Whilst travelling between Fort William and Mallaig we stopped off for our daily holiday treat! The cream tea was gorgeous. The children highly rated the delux hot chocolate too. The surroundings were magical, being so close to the Glenfinnan / Harry Potter viaduct in a railway carriage with brooms and suitcases. Fuelled by cream we walked the rough track on... More
