Sunday lunch with a difference

Three of us had lunch in Girodibacco recently. This is the third time I have been here and each time I am not disappointed. Three of us had lunch in Girodibacco recently. This is the third time I have been here and each time I am not disappointed. The menu is varied and the waiter explained whatever dish you were unsure of. Mushrooms were in season so I opted for a mushroom pasta dish with grilled mushrooms on the side. Stopped here for lunch first time in 2004. Since then, whenever we drive A1 south towards Firenze, we jump off the motorway and drive down to Barberino Di Mugello for lunch at Girodibacco. The host, Paola, and the rest of the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent. More than worth the small detour. (Actually, driving... More

On the previous day we drove past this Osteria and took note of the busy car park... Made sure to stop for lunch the next day and were so happy we did. Service is professional and welcoming and if you don't have Italian they are happy to explain some of the menu. The dishes are inovative and perhaps even a... More

On our way from Pisa Airport we were looking for somewhere to have lunch and this restaurant looked inviting. There were only a few other diners when we arrived. We were seated right away and given very extensive menus. We all chose to have a starter and a main course. Our waiter suggested a pasta dish which was like ravioli... More

We went to this restaurant on the advice of the concierge at the five star villas we were staying. When we arrived we were seated right away. We looked at the menu and we're not impressed. We ordered a bottle of wine from the menu but after a 20 minute wait we were told that they did not have that... More

I wish we'd had time and space for a full meal here. Just called in for "lunch/filler" on our way to a wedding, so we didn't have a full meal, however what we did have was superb. A selection of homemade breads that had oomph (Their caraway seed loaf was excellent) I had the rabbit with pasta and salad. Flavours... More

We went here for supper with our son and daughter in law and one year old granddaughter and received a very warm welcome. We really wanted a table outside to see the lovely summer sunset, and although all the tables were reserved, they agreed to give us a table there on condition that we would move indoors if we were... Food was delicious and the Service was great. The staff spoke english which was better than my broken Italian! I visited twice on my way into Londa and the way back. I will go back if Im ever close again!

I was just driving back to my hotel when I saw the restaurant by the road and decided to stop. Right when you get in you see a cozy fire place and feel like home. The dishes we ordered were not in menu, three spaghetti bolognese (we just wanted simple home made pasta), the waiter smiled and answered in good... More

We stopped off here by chance and had a v pleasant surprise. Friendly welcoming staff, some really unusual dishes but all beautifully prepared with care and love. I tried a taglierini dish with coffee and gorgonzola (yes, really!) just because it sounded so odd I had to have it. And it was delicious – really! What they lack in air-con... More
