Superb dining experience. Refined but warm ambiance. Elegant, inventive and tasty dishes. Welcoming, attentive service.

We went here for lunch. Restaurant was a 15 minute drive by car from our hotel near the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua. The outside of the restaurant gives no hint as to the simple but elegant interior with dimmed lighting and hand carved tables, that have a hollow in the middle of each of... read more

For the last 20 years I had been searching for a restaurant that would really make me out of my senses. Le Calandre really does it . We took the traditional menu, and dish after dish you get more surprised. Service is perfect , good wine has a reasonable price. But I cannot really express what it is to be... More

Each dish was prepared and served with culinary professionalism and precision. The notable dishes on the classic tasting menu were the marrow bone, the steak tartare with truffles and the lavender egg dessert - simply sumptuous! This is fine dining at its best.

Sophisticated, stylish and yet relaxing Expensive yes, but there were no surprises, knew this before I came. I was a solo diner so don't enjoy meals normally by myself - for this reason, I only chose a limited number of dishes and this was probably my mistake. I actually didn't like the dishes chosen, e.g the spaghetti but feel I... More

It is always hard to make sense of reviews for Michelin star restaurants. Just as I am looking for very different things if I am paying for a 5-star hotel to a quick B&B stay-over, I expect more when going to a 3-star restaurant with corresponding price tags. This is one of the best restaurants I have been to, but... More

During a recent business trip to the area I splurged and walked in at the last minuet. The reception was warm, staff flexible. No condenscending manner, becauase if you're here you're obviously a "foodie," or willing to blow big bucks to impress. I was steered to the "classic menu." Several of the signiture dishes are certainly world class, but dare... More

I ate at Le Calandre the day after they opened from their winter recess. Located just west of Padua, this was my 52nd Michelin starred restaurant and one that I greeted with great anticipation. A friend of mine with far more dining experience (and an even more impressive palate) than myself rated this his best meal in all of 2013.... More

We were there a few months ago and the reputation of this place was so good that Anna and I tried it. Frankly, not bad, but not exceptional at all: and keeping in mind its formidable cost, this in not acceptable. The food was good, but so it had to be; the restaurant itself is not memorable from the architectural... More
