Great courtyard and nice tables all with parasols. One young waiter spoke very good English. Last year I used to go there almost every day for breakfast. For 5 bucks you can get bacon and eggs, coffee, juice and toast.....best deal for North American food in Vilcabamba. In my experience all the staff was always friendly!

The food at Jardin Escondido. However, there was only one young woman holding down both the tables and the reception desk for this who wanted to check in for the hotel. That was the only blemish on an otherwise nice evening1

This used to be my favorite eatery in town. The menu sparkled with a Mexican flair and the atmosphere (eating in the outdoor garden) was delightful. Then, things changed. The new management changed the menu selection and hired unusually indifferent staff. The kitchen staff quit and their replacements didn't come close to meeting the previous standards. Service was poor and... More

We Stopped in for a quick Almorzo ... Even though it was late afternoon and the lunch time crowd was long gone The food was fresh and tasty and a great value.

Good quality of food, sometimes you've got a big plate (special the chicken was huge). Some dishes could be bigger (wraps and curry). Even the cappuccino is excellent!

Really cute inside eating area but under new management (?) and they are changing menu. Of course, everything I was interested in trying was no longer on menu. I thought it was a bit pricy for this little town but oh well. Probably would try somewhere else next time. Wasn't that memorable for me.

I'm not sure where all these "reasonable/good prices" recommendations are coming from. These are the same prices I see for Mexican in California ($6 for some tacos?), so it's a bit high even compared to other Mexican food in small towns in Ecuador. The tortilla soup was lukewarm and watery. I had a hard time finding a seat as most... More

Great food, good price! We really enjoyed the open garden area of the restaurant. The food was delicious and the drinks were cold!

The garden of the hostel where the restaurant is located is just beautiful. The food is good, healthy and not pricy. The personnel is very efficient, friendly and partly speaking English.

Best tortilla soup south of Mexico! Will come back for the Margaritas and the nice parties with live music!
