We enjoyed authentic Schnitzel with beautiful German music! Convenient roadside location and fairy like setting when the gallery lights are on at night. Very good food, generous portions and very fair prices. Friendly hosts and cozy atmosphere on a rainy night!

Thanks so much for your review. I am considering doing another German Dinner, but with other German Food. The German cuisine has alot of different things, so since everyone raved about this dinner with Schnitzel, then I might prepare some other things that everyone might like. Not ignoring another Mexican Food night either. That seemed to be popular as well.... More

We loved Caballo Negro. Monika and Rob are fun, friendly hosts. They made us feel welcome the moment we arrived! The food was a treat. We ate breakfast there and loved the pancakes and corned beef hash. The hash is made from Monika's homemade corned beef.

Thank you so much for your review. Wish you guys were here this weekend. I am making a German dinner with two different Schnitzels, Spaetzle, Red Cabbage salad, sauerkraut, and Monika's Black Forest Cake for dessert. Thanks again and hope to see you again in the future. Pura Vida, Monika More

The owner of our villa recommended Caballo Negro for breakfast and so glad that he did. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again the next morning. Monika's aged corn beef hash is a must try as are the macadamia nut pancakes. Also enjoyed the warm hospitality.

Thanks for your review. We get alot of referrals from other property owners. The corned beef used for the hash also makes a great Reuben. And the macadamia nuts are from here in Nuevo Arenal. Hope you come back and see us. Pura Vida, Monika More

The breakfast we had hear was incredible. I think the french toast is the best I've ever tasted. I don't know what the secret ingredient is, but I sure would like to know! In addition, the owner, Monica, and her daughter were very informative and helpful when it came to planning some excursions during our week in Costa Rica.

We have now been to two of Monica's "theme" dinners: Easter Dinner and Cinco de Mayo. This is the restaurant for the Lucky Bug Bed and Breakfast in Nuevo Arenal. On both occasions the restaurant was packed and the food very good. Despite the proximity to the lake road, the outside patio offers a peaceful, pretty venue. Ordinarily open for... More

Thanks for your review. I hope you come to more of the theme dinners, or come for breakfast or lunch. I hope your experience with the two theme dinners was enjoyable. Everyone seems to have a great time, and it is more like a party by the end of the evening. Pura Vida, Monika More

If you happen to be in town when they are having a special dinner in the evening, make sure that you attend. So far it has been three for three. St. Patrick's Day, corned beef and all the trimmings, Easter, ham with scalloped potatoes, black forest cake and more, and just recently Cinco de Mayo, what a wonderful feast. Each... More

The recent special dinner nights are a recent addition to the Caballo Negro Restaurante. We used to be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That made for a very long day, but seven days per week. However, these dinners do take days to prepare, but when we see everyone happy, enjoying the food, partying with friends, it makes it all... More

We visited Restaurante Caballo Negro last night for a special Mexican themed dinner. Delicious! Service and ambiance were great as well. We've also had a regular menu item dinner as well as one of their special weekend breakfasts. Each time our meal and the service were terrific! We especially enjoy eating out on the balcony overlooking their private pond.

Thanks so much for the nice review. We are hoping to do more in the future, but we are very selective in the choices for those events. When successful, we would like to make these events annual ones. So far, everyone has had a great time, so I guess we have three annual events so far.....:) thanks again, Monika and... More

The combination of German and California-style cooking creates a wonderful array of choice for breakfast. Many of the breakfasts are accompanied by a fried potato/onion cooked in a fragrant spice with a hint of curry. Everyday there is a different array of fresh fruit as well. Coffee is strong and tasty. If you sit outside, you can glimpse many birds... More

Thanks so much for your nice review. Our Huevos Rancheros and Corned Beef Hash and Eggs are our most popular breakfast favorites.
