Brilliant local gastro pub

Since the white swan was taken over and redone a couple of years back it has become our favourite local pub for a Saturday night. Their Malbec is a reason to go all by itself! The rabbit scotch egg is awesome if you've got the appetite for it as a starter and the menu and wine list are varied and... read more

My girlfriend and I went here for a brilliant breakfast & champagne service on a Saturday morning. Upon entry the first thing that struck me was the quality of the renovation - the place looks stunning. The service throughout breakfast was faultless with extra coffee and toast offered. The quality of the food is second to none. I had eggs... More

I've been here twice now for a champagne breakfast and both times were faultless. Delicious toasted breads (fresh white bloomer and Irish soda most recently) Lovely freshly coffee - they even willingly bring you more if you finish your first Beautifully flavoured mushrooms and pancetta with perfectly poached eggs on top... My OH had Eggs Benedict, which I've also had... More

We were recommended to try the white swan by several people and we are so glad that we did! The food is stunning, attention to detail and service is A1. They have everything right and it's so cosy. Will be eating here again this week, we can't wait! Highly recommended.

Situated in a tranquil village not too far from the motorway network this restaurant is a little gem. Have eaten here on 2 occasions and not disappointed one jot. The quality of food is superb and very reasonably priced. The ambience is one where you could not fail to relax, indulge taste buds and choose from a super wine selection.... More

Our first visit to this brilliant restaurant. We arrived for lunch and had a 3 course meal that was brilliant. My wife described it as the best place we have been for lunch and although I wouldn't quite go that far, it was great. The only minor, very minor point was that the sorbet and pannacotta didn't really complement each... More

We have friends, two other couples that we met on Douro river Cruise 2 years ago. So we take it in turns to arrange get-togethers. I used a web site to find the optimum spot to meet up. We then headed for Tripadvisor to ascertain the best places to meet chat and eat. With our shortlist in hand we set... More

Took my father, who was visiting from Newcastle and a massive "foodie" for Sunday lunch today. I shouldn't complain but the sun was out and the position of our table meant that my step mother had to wear sunglasses. The very attentive head waiter soon recognised and moved us to an alternative table (perhaps get blinds, as its not the... More
