Fantastic!

Modern but still with character and we loved Samantha............a fellow re-located American.........lovely staff, great service, and can't wait to take our American granddaughter there when she comes for a visit in April. Oh, the food was fabulous and what a wine selection! The best!!

We have friends, two other couples that we met on Douro river Cruise 2 years ago. So we take it in turns to arrange get-togethers. I used a web site to find the optimum spot to meet up. We then headed for Tripadvisor to ascertain the best places to meet chat and eat. With our shortlist in hand we set... More

Took my father, who was visiting from Newcastle and a massive "foodie" for Sunday lunch today. I shouldn't complain but the sun was out and the position of our table meant that my step mother had to wear sunglasses. The very attentive head waiter soon recognised and moved us to an alternative table (perhaps get blinds, as its not the... More

Wow - what a wonderful place. We visited on a busy Saturday evening. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Lovely canapés brought to us as the bar during pre-dinner drinks and petit fours at the end rounded off an excellent 3 course meal. Wine and other drinks all reasonably priced. The pub has been very imaginatively and stylishly... More

We were party of 6 on a busy friday night ! The food was excellent, with interesting combinations, & was a joy to eat. However, we felt that the staff were under pressure or inexperienced to serve the numbers , we only got our wine after prompting & it arrived after our first course. We will go again , but... More

Had an excellent Saturday lunch here. Food was fantastic - really tasty and imaginative dishes, presented in a very fine way. And I have to say that it's incredibly good value for what it is. Will definitely be visiting again!

I couldn't fault anything. We went as a family and the whole experience from first drinks to a leisurely coffee was fantastic. I would recommend the White Swan to anyone. Set in a picturesque village close to the M1/M6 intersection you could be miles from anywhere. Beautifully updated to add light and an airy feel to the place it is... More

We went here last Sunday with friends and enjoyed it all from start to finish. It looks like the place has been recently renovated, to a high standard, it's beautiful. We had a drink in the bar area before being taken to our table in the restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The restaurant was boiling... More

Took another set of friends here following a very pleasing lunch last month....absolute winner again, not a morsel was left on anyone's plate across 3 courses. Service good although it was clear they were starting to get stretched Couple of observations ...only 1 slice of beef on the roast felt a little meagre ... My mrs and the table next... More

It's been a few months since I was last at the White Swan so I booked to take my valentine (wife) there for Valentine's Day. While a big bunch of red roses would have been cheaper, they wouldn't have tasted half so good. They did a 7 course tasting menu for the occasion and every mouthful was a joy and... More
