Nice restaurant with very friendly owners

Very tasty meal with nice wine. Maybe not on the best location to be found on Madeira, but cosy inside. The chorizo 'flambée' with white rum, as a starter, and the swordfish, as the main course, were lovely. Very friendly service !

I visit Madeira regularly as I own a property in Ponta Delgada and visit the nearest provincial town of Sao Vicente regularly. I like to call into this Taberna as it is directly opposite the bus stop and handy to wait for the infrequent bus back home. The restaurant is cosy and in the traditional style, staff are friendly, speak good English... More

Went here on the first night of our hols as it was my wife's birthday. It was truly superb! Our starters were fantastic, we shared steak cubes in a mushroom sauce and onions with rice, fantastic !!!! Then we had a sandwich with ham and cheese on in what can only be described as oxtail soup but a lot nicer... More

Ate here 3 times due to the amazing reviews. Praise is well deserved. Staff were very nice and helpful. Food was very good and plentiful. Poncha was excellent, I tried a lot all over the island and this was the best. Would love to come here again. Never had a problem getting a table for 2 and even when the... More

This is a friendly and comfortable restaurant. The food was very nicely prepared--delicious, in fact. it was probably our best meal in Sao Vicente.

We went 3 nights in row, ate different things off the menu each night. It's not Michelin starred food, but it doesn't pretend to be. It's tasty, generous portions, excellent value for money. Service was friendly, nice atmosphere, parking easy. Healthy mix of locals and tourists like us. P.S. Try the Poncha. It's fantastic, not at all like the mediocre... More

Very enjoyable and tradicional food, with a good value for money. The ambience is very soothing and has a distinct style. I loved the selection of good portuguese wines and an enjoyable relaxed service. To my foreign friends enjoying a vacation here in "madeira island" I recommendo this place to you

We were looking for a nice typical madeira restaurant and we found it in Taberna Sao Vicente - this small, cosy place is definitely worth of visiting while staying in Madeira! The food was delicious, all the ingredients were fresh and tasty, staff was very friendly. The best octopus salad I have ever had I tasted in this restaurant!

We came here more or less by accident on the search for something to eat, and this was good: I had a very delicious chicken and a very nice evening. During our round-trip on Madeira we ate in different restaurants, and this was one of the best. So what is different from the other places? - first, the food is... More
