Good food but we were there on a 'function' night and seating was limited. That said, service was prompt and staff friendly and helpful. Lovely buildings and if you like a bit of history, this is definitely a place to visit - I would go there again.

Myself, my husband and teenage daughter went to The George for an evening meal, I have to say it was absolutely lovely, staff were pleasant and helpful, my husband and daughter had the pie, which was a very large portion, and the pie was full of filling, daughter couldn't manage a dessert! I have the burger which I was very... More

We stopped at the George Inn on the way back home from a holiday in Dorset. The food was really nice and prepared quickly. It was a busy day and the staff were clearly a little overwhelmed. As a result, service suffered a little and we didn't get the right meals first time around. This was handled relatively well and... More

I'm really saddened to see several "not so favorable" reviews of The George, as our meal there was definitely one of the more positively memorable of our 10 days in England. For one thing, it is the quintessential Old-English pub, with a wonderful atmosphere in all of the rooms from which you can choose to eat. There is a wonderful... More

Food was not the best thing about this wonderful restaurant though it was acceptable, I think I would have preferred pub grub in one of the charming bars rather than the main dining room which we had booked. Definitely worth stopping by to have a pint and soak up the atmosphere which was so tangible you could almost cut a... More

Oh dear I'm really disappointed having to write this review as this used to be one of our favourite places to eat. Dropped in today for a spot of lunch, we were shown to our table and ordered our food. For starters we ordered the camembert to share, for mains I ordered the lambs liver (I asked if I could... More

Lovely old building although parking is somewhat restricted - we had to park on the road. Good choice of beers and wine - the Pinotage was excellent. 3 of us had roast beef and I ordered the lamb. All came plated up complete with vegetables, diced carrot/swede, broccoli, delicious braised red cabbage and crispy roast potatoes. Loads of tender meat... More

A group of 7 of us (6 adults and 1 child) decided to go to the George for a meal (some of us are local whereas some are from the Midlands so thought we would show them the sights). We rang before hand at about 7.20pm to check what time they served food, I was told they served food until... More
