Pleasant, but no return.

A sunny midweek lunch for three. Gorgous day, not too busy when we arrived. Food took an age to arrive but we were in no rush so that was fine. A number of groups with young children who seemed to be getting stressed after a wait for food. Only seemed to be one waiter who was trying his best to... read more

I've always loved this pub, first went there as a child with my father in the sixties, after catching tadpoles in the brook on what was the old farm. Spent a lot of time in "The Boat" in my youth, a great pub that brings back lots of happy memories for me. Visited today with my son and daughter, (its... More

Went for a family meal but left after 10 minutes. On entering the lady behind the bar glared at us but we found a table and sat down. My husband went to the bar to order drinks and get the menu. Whilst standing waiting, at a pretty empty bar, a customer (who looked like a regular) walked up and was... More

Just popped in here after a long walk with the dogs. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the beer garden had been modernised with brand new benches. We decided to try the food and it was far far better than we had expected. I had the steak & ale pie and the accompanying gravy was absolutely delicious! It was... More

Lovely day to sit in garden. Pub has been refurbished but still lots of shouty signs on what you can and can't do. Our food not available, no apology, no urgency to serve food, lots of sulky service.

Cumberland Sausage Barm for hubby and Fish Goujon Barm for me,a ridiculously tiny 2 pieces of very oily fish with Tartare sauce on only 1 half of the barm cake, and tasteless, cheap fries. We asked for sauce and were given a bowl with just vinegar and brown sauce. Hubby's barm was a better portion but virtually no fries, although... More

The food there is good, and from my experience of the mix grill it was some of the nicest meat I've had in the while. So I can recommend that, however, service is incredibly slow, but friendly. When it's busy you can end up waiting an hour for your food. The inside of the pub is nice and friendly, and... More

The Jackson's Boat is located about 5 - 10 minutes walk from the Car Park at Sale Water Park. Small car park on site for those wishing to park closer to the pub. The building has quite a unique design due to the many bottles and boat items located on the roof an walls. The drinks are reasonable priced although... More

Nice traditional pub, good food, inexpensive. Happy staff. I like to sit out in this pub as I find the inside dark and smelly (dogs), however today builders were in, so we sat inside. The menu has changed since my last visit. It was ok, hubby likes the Timothy Taylor!
