Description: The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite. The brainchild of chefs Paul Taylor and Tim Wood who trained under Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White at the Lowry, The Fat Loaf is a brilliant bistro. The open kitchen lets you watch them work. Sourcing is taken seriously – local wherever possible, excellent at all times. The menu is modern European prepared with imagination and flair. It’s perfectly set in a storefront restaurant with slate floors, white chairs, neutrally coloured walls and an array of art photography on display. Formerly a bring-your-own-wine place, The Fat Loaf now offers a short, thoughtful, international wines list at prices so reasonable you’ll have to blink

I have been eating here for many years and I have never been disappointed - except when I cannot book a table because they are full!! The menu is interesting and varied. The wines are good and sensibly priced. The team Is outstanding. The menu is interesting and varied and above all it is perfect.

We had a very low key wedding a few days before Christmas, which involved myself, wife our 2 children (aged 11 and 6) and our 2 witnesses Obviously with it being so close to Christmas (22nd) we were faced with many restaurants either not opening on a Monday lunchtime or being faced with a Christmas only menu Fatloaf were able... We have been there for dinner a few times. Staff are always friendly and the food meets our expectations (which I must admit are high). The starters are ok, but the mains are fantastic and it makes up for it. Not giving 5 stars due to starters ( medium quality but good value for money) and due to the fact... More

I have lived in Sale for a number of years and my wife and friends had been previously been and said it was really good food. I finally managed to go for a friends Birthday and I was not disappointed. First of all the staff were attentive and also allowed flexibility by allowing a few of the group to order... More

Ordered Christmas dinner takeaway from the fat loaf this year for the first time. We had 10 coming for dinner and I can honestly say this was the most chilled out I have ever been cooking!! I collected the food on Christmas Eve all very organised. On Christmas Day there was an instruction guide on when to place what in... More

From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and fussed over like you are the only customers. The tapas style (small sharing plates) available as starters or mains are to die for. And the choice of mains are always of a very high standard. Plain is available for the less adventurous but still cooked to perfection,... More

Visited the Fat Loaf on a Monday evening, where you can take your own wine. Opted for the Christmas menu. Myself and the ladies that I were with all enjoyed the meal, which was beautifully presented. The Waitresses were first class. Shall be visiting again after Christmas.

I was visiting Ashton On Mersey Sat 6th Dec with my friend we were advised to call in the Fat Loaf for coffee and clearly there were people there already doing so. We wanted to find a venue for a family get together and we thought this would be an opportunity to check out the restaurant. When I asked the... More

Hi There, thank you for taking the time to give us a review even though it was a negative one. As im sure you are aware that Saturday 6th December was a special Christmas Market day in Ashton Village and as such was extremely busy due to a massive flow of people visiting the village on a busy day. We... More

As a family we've eaten many times here, so I was so very excited to try the new breakfast service menu. I opted for the scrambled eggs, bacon and oven bottom. The eggs were so delicious and light, the bacon had flavour and the oven bottoms were just a cheeky addition, but oh my I was full. My OH had... More
