Description: The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite. The brainchild of chefs Paul Taylor and Tim Wood who trained under Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White at the Lowry, The Fat Loaf is a brilliant bistro. The open kitchen lets you watch them work. Sourcing is taken seriously – local wherever possible, excellent at all times. The menu is modern European prepared with imagination and flair. It’s perfectly set in a storefront restaurant with slate floors, white chairs, neutrally coloured walls and an array of art photography on display. Formerly a bring-your-own-wine place, The Fat Loaf now offers a short, thoughtful, international wines list at prices so reasonable you’ll have to blink

From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and fussed over like you are the only customers. The tapas style (small sharing plates) available as starters or mains are to die for. And the choice of mains are always of a very high standard. Plain is available for the less adventurous but still cooked to perfection,... More

Visited the Fat Loaf on a Monday evening, where you can take your own wine. Opted for the Christmas menu. Myself and the ladies that I were with all enjoyed the meal, which was beautifully presented. The Waitresses were first class. Shall be visiting again after Christmas.

I was visiting Ashton On Mersey Sat 6th Dec with my friend we were advised to call in the Fat Loaf for coffee and clearly there were people there already doing so. We wanted to find a venue for a family get together and we thought this would be an opportunity to check out the restaurant. When I asked the... More

Hi There, thank you for taking the time to give us a review even though it was a negative one. As im sure you are aware that Saturday 6th December was a special Christmas Market day in Ashton Village and as such was extremely busy due to a massive flow of people visiting the village on a busy day. We... More

As a family we've eaten many times here, so I was so very excited to try the new breakfast service menu. I opted for the scrambled eggs, bacon and oven bottom. The eggs were so delicious and light, the bacon had flavour and the oven bottoms were just a cheeky addition, but oh my I was full. My OH had... More

We've eaten here loads, food is fantastic, service great. Fab place. We've had from the main menu and also the small plates (like tapas) whichever are great, the Eccles cake, cheese and desert wine is a fantastic desert option

My last review was less favourable. However we visited for lunch today and it was delicious. Tasty panini style sandwiches, soup, chips. Lovely friendly atmosphere, brilliant service. Might give breakfast a go in a few weeks.

This restaurant, in a little known area of Sale, is the jewel in our eating crown. The food is always excellent whether at lunch or dinner and the service is friendly and cheerful. I like the fact that the kitchen is open to view.

We go to Fat Loaf as it's convenient and the food is usually what one might expect from a small village restsurant. I'm not a fan of formica topped tables and paper serviettes plus 'the just warm' french fries don't impress. The limited menu, especially at lunch times, is also an issue but to be fair the service is friendly,... More

Superb meal at Fat loaf. Had 3 of the tapas to start between us, all delicious. Chicken wings, prawns and whitebait. Main course my wife had fillet steak and I had the pigs cheeks both fantastic. My wife enjoyed the chocolate tart for dessert and the wine and local beers were very good. On the whole great food with fantastic... More

Tim & Paul consistently produce excelent food at the Fat Loaf. A small, bistro type restaurant in Ashton Village, where they have both a selection of Tapas style dishes along with main meat, fish & vegetarial dishes. Puddings too, obviously ! Atmosphere is good & very friendly, smiling service from Paige. Great venue for a meal for two or a... More
