Description: The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite...
The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite. The brainchild of chefs Paul Taylor and Tim Wood who trained under Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White at the Lowry, The Fat Loaf is a brilliant bistro. The open kitchen lets you watch them work. Sourcing is taken seriously – local wherever possible, excellent at all times. The menu is modern European prepared with imagination and flair. It’s perfectly set in a storefront restaurant with slate floors, white chairs, neutrally coloured walls and an array of art photography on display. Formerly a bring-your-own-wine place, The Fat Loaf now offers a short, thoughtful, international wines list at prices so reasonable you’ll have to blink

Really nice local restaurant in Ashton on Mersey. Superb food, friendly staff, and excellent atmosphere. Great to see a place like this doing well, and lovely to see wine nights and Sunday lunch clubs. Will definitely become a regular for us. Excellent both times we visited - once for dinner, once for breakfast - Awesome black pudding!

Have visited the Fat Loaf several times over the past few years. Food is always tasty, if quite expensive. Last night it was almost empty and so lacked atmosphere. Don't think the "small plates" idea works as it leaves very few choices for those of us who want a starter then main. May not re-visit unless menu changes.

This restaurant will meet your expectations. Food is excellent and staff are always welcoming. We are regular customers now so they know what we want and they are very proactive. They meet all our requests and although, in January I found the delivery of the food slow, since then the food arrives on time and we never had any complaints.... More

A lovely friendly restaurant, we visited for our Wedding Anniversary. The food was excellent, my husband had what he described as the best steak he had every eaten. Chips were brilliant, and onion rings to die for. Some decent veggie options too. Puds were delicious - espresso creme brulee and I had trio of tiny tasty puds. Can't believe that... More

Further to our previous report we have recently held a family celebration for a Party of 14 which proved a great success. As always the food and service were excellent and the meals all served at the same time made it a great night. WELL DONE FAT LOAF.

Great varied menu and something for everyone. The food tastes great and the portions are a good size. I would strongly recommend eating here and the Sea Bass was LOVELY.

Frequent visitors since the Fat Loaf opened. We have always enjoyed the imaginative menu of well prepared and excellently cooked food. The service is friendly and efficient. Over the years we have tried many restaurants but this remains by far our favourite.

Consistently good quality food and friendly staff. Good wine list. Nice atmosphere. One of my first choices of restaurants in this area.

Great food and a lovely atmosphere. It's quite expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Good choice of wine and drinks available. Make sure you book, especially at weekends because it does fill up fast!
