Description: The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite. The brainchild of chefs Paul Taylor and Tim Wood who trained under Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White at the Lowry, The Fat Loaf is a brilliant bistro. The open kitchen lets you watch them work. Sourcing is taken seriously – local wherever possible, excellent at all times. The menu is modern European prepared with imagination and flair. It’s perfectly set in a storefront restaurant with slate floors, white chairs, neutrally coloured walls and an array of art photography on display. Formerly a bring-your-own-wine place, The Fat Loaf now offers a short, thoughtful, international wines list at prices so reasonable you’ll have to blink

My last review was less favourable. However we visited for lunch today and it was delicious. Tasty panini style sandwiches, soup, chips. Lovely friendly atmosphere, brilliant service. Might give breakfast a go in a few weeks.

This restaurant, in a little known area of Sale, is the jewel in our eating crown. The food is always excellent whether at lunch or dinner and the service is friendly and cheerful. I like the fact that the kitchen is open to view.

We go to Fat Loaf as it's convenient and the food is usually what one might expect from a small village restsurant. I'm not a fan of formica topped tables and paper serviettes plus 'the just warm' french fries don't impress. The limited menu, especially at lunch times, is also an issue but to be fair the service is friendly,... More

Superb meal at Fat loaf. Had 3 of the tapas to start between us, all delicious. Chicken wings, prawns and whitebait. Main course my wife had fillet steak and I had the pigs cheeks both fantastic. My wife enjoyed the chocolate tart for dessert and the wine and local beers were very good. On the whole great food with fantastic... More

Tim & Paul consistently produce excelent food at the Fat Loaf. A small, bistro type restaurant in Ashton Village, where they have both a selection of Tapas style dishes along with main meat, fish & vegetarial dishes. Puddings too, obviously ! Atmosphere is good & very friendly, smiling service from Paige. Great venue for a meal for two or a... More

Visited yesterday lunch with my wife, daughter, her boyfriend and little Mia. Welcomed like old friends by front of house Tim and shown to our table. The place was buzzing, glad we booked, the atmosphere was relaxed yet had a good restuarant'y feel about it. Drink ordered where taken and Tim's knowledge proved invaluable explains each and every beer we... More

Four of us ate here at lunch time and the food and service was excellent and good value for money. The restaurant was full but this did not affect the service or the food. It's been a while since we visited but excellent as always, looking forward to the next time

Quite good place. Rather limited range of dishes, but tasty food. Service was good but would be nice if staff smiled a bit too.

My partner and I hadn't been out together for well over a year. We had an amazing meal, good produce and excellent flavours. Service and welcome is excellent, atmosphere was lovely and the cheesecake is to die for. We can't wait to go back.

Came here for family meal. Would never have come anywhere near here had it not been recommended. I had spicy prawns to start, sea bass in orange sauce and white chocolate cheesecake. All of this food was excellent. Clearly a lot of thought and effort goes into making the food here. Combinations of ingredients that don't sound as though they... More
