Decided to try this place based on TripAdvisor reviews, food was amazing! Not having had oysters before was a bit daunting but they were delicious. Had one off the BBQ, and then the deep fried platter, with a glass of Kirin. A little bit pricey for a backpacker budget but well worth it. Would definitely return and recommend!

How good? This traveller says best anywhere. The grilled ones on the bbq were my favourite but my special order combo plate for 2000+ yen came with: 1 smoked, 2 bbq grill in half shell, 3 luscious plump seamed ones on rice, 3 huge breaded and fried for total of 9 with the rice and greens which themselves were tasty.... My family and I came here for lunch on our last day on Miyajima. Everything we had was super fresh and delicious! We had oysters (BBQ, raw, marinated on rice, deep fried) and thoroughly enjoyed them with some delightful french wine. The prices are very reasonable we literally got full from eating just oysters. Would love to go back some... More

I can only second all the positive things said about this restaurant. I grew up in a major oyster-producing region of the US, so I know my oysters. I chose the barbecued oysters because I had never had them prepared that way. I was expecting something with spicy tomato sauce, but they were just lightly flavored by being cooked on... More

We stopped here for lunch to taste the oysters from the Hiroshima bay. Ordered the oysters deep fried and prawns! So delicious and fresh! The staff were lovely, and the service fast and efficient! Wish I had also tried the BBQ oysters that were being prepared fresh outside the resturant!

We were drawn to Kakiya when we saw the oysters on the grill at the front of the restaurant. We both had the set menu - fried oysters, miso with little oysters, rice, pickle & sauces. We loved the food & had fun choosing what to drink from the excellent wine list. We were surprised at how cheap a meal... More

However if you are in Miyajimi for a day trip you should come here and taste the islands famous delicacy. The restaurant has a take away section outside where you can simply order take away grilled oysters as they are cooked in front of you otherwise you can opt to sit inside the restaurant for a comfier option. We ordered... More

It's a very cool place where you can find oysters in every style: raw, grilled, boiled, fried... You can drink a very good sake or, like me, champagne - there are many choices of wine. Prices are ok. And you are in the marvellous Miyajima island!

We were intrigued to try this place after seeing the long queue outside; a restaurant has to be good to inspire people to queue in the freezing cold Japanese winter, especially when there is no shortage of alternative oyster restaurants on Miyajima. The oysters were huge and available in many delicious forms including natural, crumbed, gratin and flame grilled. This... More
