Yut Loy or Yat Lai is the famous coffee shop in Kuala Kangsar especially for its ‘always sold out’ ‘pau’. It serves other foods too like chicken chop, egg on toast, omelet on toast, fried noodles, fried rice, vegetable rice, etc but Yut Loy is always famous for its ‘pau’. The ‘pau’s is ready for sale at 2.30 pm and... More

Went on a weekday and was told that the pau wd only be available after 2.30 pm and only if there were any remnants after existing orders were fulfilled. So no guarantees that you wd get a pau on the spot. Also for a hainanese coffee shop, the chicken chop was pricey at RM17 bucks. Opportunistic pricing perhaps?

The top item on the menu was definitely THE pau. The pau was light and fluffy, with delightful fillings inside. In comparing with other version of pau where one can easily get it is THE 'inti' or the fillings. Most of ordinary pau will have limited amount of filling but not Yut Loy's as theirs is sufficiently for an adult.... More

Was on a working trip to Kuala Kangsar recently. After reading reviews on Tripadvisor, decided to have the chicken chop for our lunch. The Yut Loy coffeeshop is situated right in the middle of Kuala Kangsar town. It serves chicken chop, fried noodles, steamed bread and others typical in a coffeeshop. It is an old building, non air-cond, with some... More

We ordered the 1 chicken chop, 4 steak, 1 meehoon hailam, 2 mee hailam, 1 wantai mee, and 3sets roti steam. And an average of 2 drinks each. The bill was rm139.00. The best part was when we ordered the pau. The owner said they sold out. The gentleman on the next table heard our disappointment and sent us a... More

Be patient and you will be rewards. THE BEST PAU in all of Malaysia. Full stop. And they only make 300 each day which is ready by about 2pm and finishes by 3pm if you are lucky - that is the palace hasn't tapau the entire batch. Anyway...other ol'skool Hainanese favaourites include Mee Kicap..Chicken Chop..Omelete on toast....half boiled egg on... More

The only food I missed terribly is Pau from Yut Loy - Kuala Kangsar. The family is from KK and I have been eating their Pau since a young kid and having lived abroad since 1989, I must say that Yut Loys pau is still the Best. On my sister's visit 2 years ago, I managed to get her to... More

Yut Loy is a coffeeshop in the heart of Kuala Kangsar that serves Hainanese cuisine. The shop is old, there's no air conditioning or plushie armchairs or wi-fi, but there is a sign that says "No spitting allowed"... As with the previous reviewer, I must agree that Yut Loy serves the best halal Pau (steamed buns) available in four flavours;... More

Hidden gem. Favourite and voting this as Best Pau Place and it isn't in Tanjung Malim. ;) The outside soft and white. The inside, all made just right. Few flavours available. Call in advance.
