We used to enjoy the food in the angel (see my previous review) but they are no longer doing food in the evenings and just sandwiches at lunch. Still a great spot for a drink, but noticeably quieter these days which is a shame. Fingers crossed the place stays open as it's a lovely pub,

We stayed locally on a caravan site and was recommended this pub to eat. We booked a table for 6.We arrived at the pub, via a detour to the road being closed. The pub is a nice friendly local and the local real ales and cider was very good. But the service for the food etc was terrible - did... More

I had the misfortune to eat here on 5/10/13, firstly the staff are very rude and bad mannered, the bar has very limited staff and so queuing for a drink is a nightmare! Secondly the quality of the food is terrible! My companion and I decided to ordered the 'sharing platter - seafood', next to the title it lists the... More

This lovely pub in the middle of picturesque Grosmont truly is a 'home from home'. We visited with family for Sunday lunch and they provided a lovely generous dinner for my little girl who is usually a fussy eater but was most impressed she had her own Sunday lunch! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere just right. We will... More

They had to cater for 25 of us and so buffet was great idea. Very accommodating for all special diets and wonderful chips, great community initiative

with Marg and Rob back in command, the Angel is back to being very good indeed. A perfect combination of a truly old fashioned country pub with welcoming locals and very well kept beer. A perfect setting in a lovely village and the slight eccentricity of the pub not having its own toilet! If you don't know then go and... More

I took note of good reviews and actively sought out The Angel Inn however I arrived hungry and was disappointed with my portion! The sea bass was tasty but arrived in a few pieces with approx 3 sliced new potatoes and a few wilted spinach leaves. I ate up in no time whilst my hubby continued his (better)choice a while... Read lots of great reviews on here prior to our visit but sorely disappointed in the end. Lovely charming town well worth a visit, especially if walking. Cosy village pub, lots of locals, friendly atmosphere. Good choice on the menu except that several dishes we wanted were unavailable. Food took 45 minutes to arrive and one of the dishes needed... Would highly recommend eating here as the burgers we ordered we amazing! We visited at lunchtime on a rainy day, we were the only customers eating and were made to feel very welcome, thanks for a lovely lunch.

We love this pretty little village and the surrounding countryside and have popped in many a time for drinks after visiting abergavenny, the castles nearby and local restaurants so a few days ago thought we would eat here. It's a proper country pub apparently ran by people in the village...and has a cosy and welcoming atmosphere...we sat by the log fire... More
