fantastic food

We were driving past and wanted a late afternoon meal, were pleased to have found this place. Great choice of food and specials. Super meal, quick service. Best mussels I have eaten and lovely home made chips.

Very nice pub, cosy and with great food. Very friendly staff. Busy on a saturday evening, more quiet during the week or at lunch time. Good tip: dinner menu is also available during lunchtime. And part of the pub is freely accessible with dogs.

Saw this get rave reviews on trip advisor so called to book it for Saturday night for 6 of us. Was told bookings not taken but if we had a drink at the bar a table would soon be mad available. We got there at 8.15 and eventually got a table at 9.40. That was the only negative. Staff were... More

This is a lovely pub with great food and lovely staff. Good wholesome home cooked food. We had the steak and ale pie that was great and local sole which was beautifully cooked with lemon and butter. We then went for 2 homemade desserts that were gorgeous and very generous Shame we found this place on our penultimate day as... More

We visited this pub as we were staying relatively nearby in Lynton and wanted a traditional Sunday lunch. We weren't disappointed when we arrived as the staff were very friendly and we had a choice of tables. We were served roast beef which was a large portion with plenty of gravy. We also had the cheeseboard which was presented beautifully... More

Had heard the food was very good so all expectations were high, I had already checked out the menu online and had decided. Very much looking forward to it as I choose this item when I can. Staff were lovely and very friendly, it was very... More

We've eaten here a few times when we've stayed in the area and always experienced great service. The food is excellent and locally sourced and they have a great range of beers and wines on offer. Dogs are welcome in all but the restaurant.

A friend a few years back mentioned The Black Venus so we took a trip some 150 miles and were not disappointed. Need to get a table early doors as within an hour all covers were taken. A very friendly atmosphere, menu to meet all tastes, the black pudding stack amazing. Price to meet all budgets.

My Son & I have come here for three years now for our two weeks holidays. Eaten in The Black Venus every night. The meals are always good and plenty of it. My only wish is that it was nearer to home. An excellent place to end up each night of one's holiday. See you next year.
