As regular visitors to the village we keep ourselves updated regarding the options around. There is a big fuss around this restaurant that we never could understand. That might be because it is a fashionable place (??) with some good press reviews in some national papers and magazines. Regarding food and service that it's what really matters this place is... We dropped in here for a drink and ended up sharing a 2 course octopus meal. We were on a 'passing through' visit to Santa Luzia and headed for this busy looking restaurant. The menu is only in Portuguese, and the nice waitress asked if we needed help. Octopus is the restaurant speciality so we had the octopus salad for... More

First visit here and with the menu only available in Portugese it was left to very friendly staff to explain and recommend various dishes. This seemed to take up a lot of time at different table and perhaps they should think about English,German and French translations. Having said that it didn't spoil our experience. Well worth the value.

Expectations where high and unfortunately weren't met. The patanisca was very good, we ordered clams but they forgot to bring them. Then we had the fried octopus that was very tasty but the bean rice was super dry, clearly microwaved. We also had the octopus rice with prawns. It was quite good but not exquisite. Electronic dance music as ambient... More

We went to this restaurant by chance and we were extremely happy that we did. The owner is the order taker and she recommended three appetizers and in addition, we wanted to get the grilled octopus with which she agreed. Neither one of us knew that octopus could be so tasty and prepared in so many different ways! I wish... More

Casa do Polvo - House of Octopus - Tasquinha is situated in the wonderful village of Santa Luzia near Tavira in the Eastern Algarve. Santa Luzia is an old fishing village fronting a tidal waterway and a protected bird sanctuary. The restaurant has great views of the waterway, fringed by palm trees and the fishing boats. The restaurant has both... More

The restaurant is facing Ilha do Tavira and you look out over the boats anchored there. The menu is in portuguese but you get recommendations in quite a few other languages from the owner. Those recommendations were simply delicious- Polvo in different varieties and all really well done! Loved the food, the house wine was excellent as well. Definetively worth... More

Looked nice from outside, busy inside. Food amazing, we all had a different octopus dish - seemed rude not to as this is an area speciality. Food fresh, tasty. Staff helpful & friendly. Lovely deserts, more than happy with experience.

The food was exceptional......the roasted octopus platter, tender, flavourful and plentiful. The soup was rich and delicious and served piping hot and the Bacalhau a bras was tasty, not too salty and again, plentiful. Prices were also good. The service was a little "off hand", especially from one of the male servers. He did not engage, and even though we... More
