Wonderful little gem of a restuarant

We have dined several times at the restaurant and it is one of our favourites. The bar is lovely and cosy with a log burner or you can go through to the restaurant which is a barn conversion, at night it is so romantic. Their steaks are amazing and cooked to perfection, but as is every dish on... read more

Called in here yesterday for a bite to eat and couple of drinks...... We walked in to be greeted by bunch of miserable people! I thought this was a "friendly local pub". Such a sombre mood, horrible atmosphere and rude staff!!! Couldn't wait to get out of there.........

Girly dinner out with my daughter last night. We were given the choice of eating in the lounge or the restaurant - opted for the latter. The food was fab - piping hot, freshly cooked and delicious. The service was, as usual, superb. Lovely atmosphere - a few couples in there, as well as a 40th birthday party having lots... More

booked for a romantic meal on valentines night, normally very good but last night really disappointing. After sitting we found the table cloth stained with olive oil and balsamic vinegar from the previous setting, the starter and main bland and sauce too acidic. We were placed next to the stairs and customers and staff were constantly gong up and down... More

Booked a special meal for myself and my partner tonight (12th Feb) and on arrival we where told that the restaurant was closed and we would be eating in the main bar area. This is not what we where expecting and we should have been told this when we booked over a week ago! Would not recommend :(

On a cold night we were welcomed by a roaring fire and pleasant staff . The Italian menu was extensive , but as my group were on a Christmas get together we opted for the set Xmas menu which I felt was really good value for money for three courses . It offered the traditional Xmas meal and also Italian... More

We hadn't been here in a while and we weren't disappointed when we ate here at the weekend. The staff are always so obliging and friendly and the ambiance is just my favourite. As we were dining early they allowed us to eat in the lounge area if we preferred to, which we did. We chose a table near the... More

I have lived opposite the Dartmouth Arms for 3 years, have occasionally drunk there but never eaten. Went for a joint birthday treat with husband, and had one of the best meals ever tasted, will certainly be doing it again - and soon

It's hard to give this place an 'average', as I don't think it's average for the area. There are several better restaurants within five miles. Given you have to drive there, sorry, but next time I'll drive somewhere else. The décor was nice enough (though the hanging chianti bottles need dusting), the staff were nice enough, but the food was... More
