When you in Chiang khong you have to test the food its perfect. Everything fresh and tasty you will lick your fingers after the meal .when you leave the town take some homemade bread sandwiches with you for the Trip. The owner family is the best every time helpful and lovely, its like you come home to your family. Thx... More

As mentioned in my earlier comments, the opening hours are a bit erratic. The lady owner has a phone which may be worth checking if coming any distance; Tel, no. : 081 672 0049 Eat there often, food always good, same speech every time by the man who is considered something of an eccentric by the locals. However he is... More

Great food with friendly chatty owners who speak English. The homemade bread is amazing and the Mexican food made with local ingredients is better than anything you'll find in Bangkok. The owners are also a good source of info. Buy a loaf of bread here to take on the boat to Luang Prabang. Stop in Chiang Khong for at least... More

We have literally just left the place and what great food. The service is laid back but the food is all cooked fresh, the salsa everything each time. The quality of ingredients is top notch as well. They also have a sandwich menu and we tasted some bread and it was better than most of the bread we have in... More

Looks like nothing but we had there one of our best lunch in Thailand for a very good price. Bakeries are very good.

Although the opening hours seemed a bit random (which applies to Chiang Khong in general to be fair), and we felt like we were intruding in a family meal, the people running this restaurant are friendly and the food, most importantly, is really, really good. After 4 months travelling round SE Asia and endless meals out, we still haven't forgotten... More

Yesterday we were 15 people on motorcycles that went from Chiang Rai just to have lunch at Bamboo in Chiang Khong. The owners are great, the settings are nothing special but the food is fantastic. I will be back there next week with wife and friends, stay overnight just to have dinner at Bamboo. And of course we will have... More

I wonder why this has such great reviews. I agree they do a chicken sandwich to die for but main meals are very ordinary and distinctly overpriced and they seem to keep very eccentric hours.

Jib and Mim - thank you for a great experience. It was only our 2nd night into a 4 week trip but it will be hard to beat! Jib and his family were incredibly hospitable. The food was fresh, tasty and made with love. Even if you're enjoying the local cuisine give the Mexican menu a go - it was... More
