Description: Dating from 1681 and situated in Bicester’s quaint Old Town quarter, The Swan Inn strikes a wonderful balance between old coaching inn atmosphere and contemporary bar/restaurant character. Built from the local stone, the Swan is reputed to be the oldest drinking establishment in the town. The recent refurbishment and modernisation has retained and enhanced the Swan’s best features: A cheerful wood-burning stove sits in the inglenook fireplace and several comfortable leather sofas complement the traditional scrubbed wooden dining tables and chairs. The Swan Inn has an up-market ambience without being stuffy. Food – The Swan has gained an enviable reputation for food. Not ‘gastro’ and certainly not posh, our food is properly cooked and served with homely touches like home-made Maris Piper chips and home made puds. High in the popularity stakes are our home made pies, our home made 100% steak burgers and the ever popular Rib Eye steak, which we guarantee to serve exactly as you like. A slice of our Home Made cheesecake is a must. We change it regularly but, watch out for the Blueberry & White Chocolate or the Lemon & Ginger - both firm favourite among our pudding afficionados Sadly we only have seven dining tables so booking is highly advised. Bar - our bar is a great place to unwind. Our great range of drinks, ranging from chilled bottled beers to draught lagers, cider to Guinness and hand-pulled real ales, is served by knowledgeable, friendly staff. Our real ale is always in tip top condition, guaranteed!!. The wine list isn't massive but is comprehensive so, you’re sure to find something to your taste. Oh, and we also serve a full selection of soft drinks, spirits & liqueurs and great coffee, with each and every cup made from freshly ground coffee beans. Accommodation – When you’re looking for inexpensive, no-frills accommodation you probably won’t do better than the Swan. We have six comfortable letting bedrooms served by three shared bathrooms. Our low tariff doesn’t include breakfast but guests have several options available in the town, only a short walk away.

One son, one marriage, one stag-night, one great evening of lovely beer, friendly staff and a great clientele. A great town pub but with a lift of fusion with a London wine bar. Great decor and lovely ambience.

The chef delivered us excellent food when we went last night. We had eaten at the pub about 4 years ago and that was a good visit then. The decor excellent and atmosphere. The premises are for sale which we discovered was due to the impact of the new shopping centre in Bicester and other places to eat. If the... More

The worst accommodation I have ever had. The room was cramped and filthy as was the shared bathroom; I decided it was safer to bath at the show I was attending. I didn't eat in the restaurant but found the bar prices high (£5.10 for a pint/crisps) and the beer (Brakspear) in poor shape. I was informed the place targets... More

I used to go here a lot but the beer is always off with a vinegar smell?!?! They have changed the menu as well and never have the food I want!! I have complained about this place before and tony got in touch with me but I would avoid the place at all costs now!! Seriously bad

Just had a really nice lunch here. Also very nice when you go to the Swan Inn, place is always clean and tidy. Service is brilliant as it came with a smile. Portion size big for a lunch but very nice in deed.

Good and tasty food, friendly service, After having poor service elsewhere locally this was a welcome reminder of how good things can get. Free second coffees too!

The food here was lovely for such a small pub, definitely worth a visit. Great for those on a budget, staff very friendly, although perhaps a bit overworked :).

Just celebrated my birthday with our family at The Swan in Bicester. We had a very pleasant evening in this quaint village pub. The food was very good and all our dishes were piping hot. We had a nice table in the window and although it was bank holiday Saturday the pub was very quiet. The staff were all very... More

I was expecting something much nicer, having heard good reviews from locals. Had to send an expensive fillet steak back as a steak knife wouldn't cut it and a replacement took ages and my friends had finished their meals by this time. Second one wasn't much better and cooked medium rare rather than medium as requested. Couldn't bring myself to... More

Having not being able to visit here on Mothering Sunday due to circumstances we booked for Sunday lunch. On arrival the staff greeted us as we entered anc showered us to our table. Menus were given and drinks order taken. We were given a good time to chose our selection. For starters we opted to share duck spring rolls. These... More
