Our favorite hang-out spot in Andalucia

Stayed in Olvera for 8 days with a few girl friends. El Tapir was our go-to place, whether we stopped in to start out our evening or to end it off. Finding the place is part of the fun - no cars in this medieval part of the village- up the steps to the top of the hill, then follow... read more

We checked on the internet to make sure they were open, so we drove all the way from Jimera de Libar. although well hidden we managed to find it only to see a notice on the door, Back at 7pm! As it was only 5.30 it was a toss up whether to carry on to Ronda or wait. Anyhow the... More

This place is beautiful. The owner put a lot of work into making it very appealing and comfortable. He also puts a great deal of effort into making the desserts delicious and attractive. Overall we felt being at this bar gave our time in Olvera that much better.

If you like me have a sweet tooth you must go to El Tapir Despistado in Olvera, Spain. The cakes and the chocolate mousse are outstanding! I love to enjoy my cake with their really good cappuccino or even a glass of excellent Cava. Or try their delicious wines and Belgian beers. And in top of that Marleen and Kris... More

A fellow traveller told us about this place, which we had a bit of a hard time finding, but we were so glad we persisted. Although the menu is limited and the seating inside limited, the food was delicious and homemade. I would highly recommend this place to grab a bite and a glass of wine while touring the White... Set behind the parish church at the top of the hill in Olvera, El Tapir Despistado has it all! Lovely friendly owners, quirky decor, superb views, brilliant desserts & snacks, & great beers & wines.....what's not to like?! A little out of the way, but when you get there the view makes it well worth the walk. Chris and Marlene always makes you feel welcome, the Belgian beers are great and the desserts too. Can't fault the place. It's the only place in Olvera where you get something different.

In the beautiful town of Olvera, this bar has the best location! It is near the cathedral at the top of town and overlooks the surrounding countryside to the hills beyond. It is only open from Thursday to Sunday but it is well worth venturing there for a drink or a coffee and cake or dessert. The very warm and... More

One doesn't often go to a small town in the hills of Andalusia and find an experience like that at El Tapir. Its not a restaurant (per se) - more of small cafe, primarily for drinks and maybe a snack. And for folks like me - whose Spanish is poor or non-existent - you're made to feel right at home.... This small bar-restaurant has a delicious menu to choose from. The best of Spanish, Andalusian, Flemish and Belgian cuisine presented by two artists with an eye of detail and an excellent taste to combine the fresh local vegetables and fruit into yummy dishes. Try a Belgian beer and you will sure get an appetite for more...
