Located in a lovely, tranquil and tropical setting of the Conchal Boutique Hotel, the Papaya Restaurant is definitely a must try. It is a little pricey but the food is healthy, very carefully and freshly prepared and presented beautifully. We watched one of the staff pick a fresh green papaya for my papaya salad which consisted of shredded papaya, carrot,... More

We are staying at the Conchal hotel so have eaten at the restaurant several times. Outstanding food and service. We watch the kitchen staff prepping fresh and homemade food all day. Atmosphere is relaxing, with the breezes thanks to three open sides. Prices are a bit higher than I would expect in an emerging market and for a place that's... More

The Papaya is authentic, rich in ambiance and a touch of class in a beach bum town. The food is always well-prepared and plated to perfection. No pretense here. Just creative yet simple cuisine that always hits the mark. This is a must stop on the "Gold Coast" swing through the Pacific in Guanacaste.

When you arrive at Hotel Conchal and Papaya Restaurant, you quickly realize that you are about to have a special dining experience. Hotel Conchal is a very intimate, colorful and freshly decorated, owner operated, boutique property. Situated on the upper level of the main building, the sunset views from Papaya were delightful as was the overall ambience and food. We... More

Best food we had in Costa Rica. We stayed at Conchal Hotel during our stay in Brasilito during December 26-30, 2014 and again on January 6-9, 2015 (will provide a separate review of the hotel and wedding planning). During both stays, we had all of our breakfasts, two of our lunches and all of our dinners (except for Wednesday when... More

From traditional Costa Rican food, to exquisite international flavors, this place is an absolute treasure. Best food I have had in Costa Rica, and some of the best food I've experienced anywhere.

We stayed at the Hotel Conchal for 3.5 days over Christmas 2014. Will do a separate review of the hotel, but wanted to say that we ate at Papaya 2 nights and had 3 lunches there as well as breakfast every day. Our family of 4 (including 2 young adults) enjoyed it thoroughly and recommend it highly. Food is very... More

My husband and I enjoyed a memorable dinner here in December. The marlin carpaccio was incredible. We are still talking about it -- it was that good. We also had shrimp cocktail as the other appetizer, which I usually find boring, but the sauce with this one was interesting and a definite cut above the usual. Our entrees -- fresh... More

We walked into this restaurant on New Year's Eve and my 16-year old son exclaimed, "It smells GREAT in this establishment!". And it did. There was a small crowd eating here around 8pm that night. The smells were amazing, I admit. Three of us ordered some tortilla soup which is a thin broth but they give you small bowls of... More
