Enjoyed several meals -- and pleasant conversations with the owners -- at Papaya, during my stay at Conchal Hotel in May. Completely out of character for me: once I ate here, I just didn't want to go anywhere else. Meals were all outstanding, carefully prepared with the freshest ingredients. I think beef comes from Nicaragua and seafood is locally sourced... More

We recently visited this restaurant and were very pleased with the level of service from the husband and wife team delivered. The menu was also quite good and well presented. We visited on a Wednesday night and they had a nice guitar player creating a very nice ambience. We spent approx. $70 for dinner for two and included two liquor... More

We found this restaurant close to the end of our stay in Brasilito and I wish we discovered it earlier. Our family of 4 had dinner here at this restaurant at the Conchal Hotel. I had the traditional casado with grilled chicken and my husband had the coconut mahi-mahi. Our sons had standard kid fare - chicken fingers. We all... More

We have been to CR 9 times over the years and 3 times in the Playa Conchal area. We really enjoy waterfront dining experiences and I could write for days about the unique and diverse dining experiences from Tamarindo to Las Casilitis. Last night was an enjoyable and pricey (party of 7) dining experience at the Conchal Hotel. Others have... More

My wife and I stumbled across this place at 11 am. What a find ! The lady who I think is the owner cooked for us. We got a falafel wrap and a chicken wrap (~10$). The smoothies we ordered were made fresh while we watched, in line other places which were pre made and refrigerated. Food was fresh and... More

We found Papaya on our next to last night in Playa Conchal and regret that we did not find it sooner. We had dinner there 2 nights and breakfast one morning. Everything was fresh and fabulous. The filet mignon (Nicaraguan beef) is not to be missed. It was cooked perfectly and had fantastic flavor. Our 12 year old son had... More

My husband had the lobster 5 spice which was very good. But the coconut mahi mahi is not to be missed! Very, very good.

Prices not cheap, but very good, simple, local cuisine. Amazing guac. Intimate but casual ambiance. Loved it!

We ate dinner here almost every night of our stay - everything on the menu from the fish to the beef to the pasta was excellent - it was a perfect way to end each day - the owners and the staff make you feel at home - we will return with others..

We had a dinner and a Guacamole snack there. Everything was delicious, and fresh made. It is on the pricey side I find considering the location. Also, I did not approve of 10% service charge on the bills when the food is being served by the restaurant owners. The gratuity is reserved for servers who make minimum wage in my... More

So glad you enjoyed our food at Papaya and thanks for your review! I would just like to clarify the situation regarding the 10% service charge. Costa Rican law states that restaurants must charge 10% service charge. This goes directly to staff and owners are not entitled to a share. Hilda and I work very hard at Papaya, not only... More
