Good food but a bit of a wait

Didn't think that booking for 7.30pm there would be too much of a wait but the pub was already packed when we got there so obviously it's very popular. Very good, varied and interesting menu but we did have to wait about 15 mins for our order to be taken and another 35 mins for the starters to... read more

We stayed on the pub camp site and had booked a table for four. The food and service was excellent. I also recommend The Liver and Bacon. This was washed down with several pints of bitter from their own micro brewery. Just perfect.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. We are so pleased you enjoyed your meal with us. Apologies about the wait however we have a very smell kitchen and sometimes over the weekend a slight delay can occur. We hope to see you again soon. More

When you support Chesterfield FC and they have a game in Yeovil on Good Friday, you have no good excuse not to go, other than there being nowhere good to stay. Well, the Mason's Arms at Lower Odcombe takes that excuse away! The booking process was really easy - email, quick phone call, job done. We had a really friendly... More

Thank you so much for your positive comments, we really appreciate it! We'd love to welcome you back next year although I fear Yeovil and Chesterfield will not be playing in the same league by then - maybe an FA cup draw...?! More

Booked a table at the Masons Arms on a recommendation. Waited 15 mins and no one came to take our order, my wife had to go to the bar to place our food order. The starter took another 20 mins whilst the main was over an hour later. The food was a disappointment. My wife's chicken was battered which was... More

I'm so sorry that you did not enjoy your meal with us the other night. The kitchen was very busy and subsequently the later bookings in the evening got slightly delayed before their orders could be taken. The chicken breast is breaded which is not stated on the menu but I've spoken to the chef's and we will change this... More

This pub has long been a local favourite but has recently benefited from a tasteful update. The menu also appears to have undergone a makeover, with a wide variety of dishes to please every palate. All three of us chose the ribs, which was a splendidly decadent concoction of sticky barbecue meat, served with enormous twice cooked chips and onion... More

We eat here late on Saturday and had to amend our booking time en route. The staff could not have been friendlier before and during our stay (we were camping also). The food was amazing and we felt very good value. Both my wife and I along with our young daughter and two dogs were made to feel really welcome... More

Having been recommended by a friend despite recent reviews thought I would give it a go. Thankfully I booked in advance as it was busy but despite this the staff were great and friendly with good interaction with customers. The food was amazing and definitely worth the price for excellent, well presented home made grub. Would both recommend and visit... More

I wouldn't agree with the comments about service here as the lads serving were all attentive and gave us space as well as ensuring orders were taken. I'd agree the food is pricey - more gastro-pub level - but it was very good food. The beer was excellent and definitely worth indulging. We stayed on the campsite which was also... More

A little on the expensive side compared to other local pubs who offer similar quality food. That being said the portions were on the large side and the menu quite varied. Where the pub really fell down though is service; from the moment we arrived until leaving the various staff members we came into contact with were disinterested and bordering... More

I was really sorry to read that your experience here was so poor. We have just undergone a refurbishment which we are very excited about and introduced table service which is proving to have a few teething problems. I will be calling an urgent meeting with all my staff and drawing their attention to this and other comments in the... More
