Called in for a light lunch as we were due to dine out that evening. Hadn't realised it was a gourmet pub with an excellent and extensive menu. Explained we sadly only wanted a light bite and all had just starters and desserts. Staff very welcoming and perfectly charming about this. Food we sampled was so good two of us... More

The Springer Spaniel is a small country pub in a fairly out-of-the-way place with no other attractions except the countryside. Three of us had lunch here on a Wednesday in August. The menu is relatively limited but I prefer this to a long list of items, which must be mass produced. The starters were fine, though one or two seemed... More

We were warned there was a bit of a wait as there was a large group ahead of us but we were kept informed and the food was worth the wait.

Lovely pub, brilliant food! Definitely the highlight. Visited a couple of times now when visiting the in-laws. Bit pricey but worth it. Similar prices to London/Surrey gastro pubs. Staff are friendly, they try their best- don't always get it right but I put this down to inexperience- seem to be all local teenagers in their first jobs.

Booked a table last minute. Told we would be in bar but when we arrived we were given a nice table in the restaurant! Menu was limited, especially if you are a fussy eater. Chose not to have a starter as none appealed - thought a dessert sounded nicer! Cod and chips for 1 and chicken and mushroom suet pudding... More

Eight of us met to celebrate my Mum's 93rd birthday and had an excellent lunch, beautifully served by a well trained and very helpful team. We pre booked, service was prompt and the vegan option really imaginative. Thank you.

Via a recommendation from the proprietor of our B and B, we asked her to reserve a table for us here on a Tuesday evening. We should have specified a table.....what we were given, and told there were no others available was a very, very small table placed in the grate! Although the chimney was blocked off, you could still... More

On the recommendation of other reviewers we booked dinner for our family and friends celebration of our 70th birthdays. We ranged in age from 9 to 70 and everyone was unanimous that despite its rather ordinary exterior our meal would have been hard to better. The waitresses were attentive without being intrusive, the food was without exception really yummy. Thank... More

I was very impressed by this pub when I visited with friends after it changed hands. I believe it's now run by a winner of professional masterchef, and this is reflected in the excellent food. There's nothing too fancy or experimental - most of the food is robust and fairly traditional - but the quality is superb. The atmosphere is... More

On a recent visit to Cornwall, we sought out this Pub from the Good Pub Guide. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and imaginative. The service was faultless. The signature dessert was stunning, a real treat. Would highly recommend. I only wish we lived closer.
