As locals, we decided to try Donatellos, and were very disappointed. The starters were a mixed bag, with the mushrooms being quite good, but the others certainly not. The baked peppers, which we had waited 20 minutes for, we're burnt. Our main course was even more of a disappointment. My tortellinis were 'empty', just pasta with a white sauce and... More

I have eaten here quite a few times. The food is good ,and very freshly made, the service attentive and it is a really cosy little place. An interesting menu, not just the usual Italian pizza and pasta ( although both appear ).Decent house wine too.

Have been to Donatellos many times, the food is always good and I like the atmosphere. On my last visit with friends the service was lacking. We had so many people looking after our table that nobody seemed to know what was happening. One starter we had to ask for twice and it arrived with no appology when everyone else... More

This is my favourite place in Ampthill and always has been, traditional home cooked food, the Lasagne is my staple favourite and never disappoints, the Garlic bread is the best because its made with great crusty loafs not a thin pizza base like a lot of other places. Never had a bad meal here in years and years and often... More

We only booked a table here because Fratellis was fully booked. A few dried up supermarket mushrooms, watery iceberg lettuce, greasy pizza and a £70 bill. Poor waitress looked really embarrassed at serving our food and when we gave her a hint of a tip on the way out she admitted that she was 'hated being a waitress there'. No... More

We wanted good home cooked food that was affordable with friendly service and no pushy staff. That is what we got. Three courses with wine and coffee for two for just over £60. House wine was lovely, soft and fruity. Risotto starter excellent. Pasta al Forno and Pizza good quality and good portions. Homemade Tiramisu was the best I have... More

Ate here for a Birthday treat. The standard of food was inconsistent, starters were ok but main courses were a let down. Pizza was dry, tomato sauce on base was lacking. Pasta was overcooked, sauce was bland with hardly any chicken, extremely disappointing considering it was advertised as the house special; even the serviettes were cheap. Very poor value, certainly... More

Although very small, Donatello's is a lovely place to come as a couple or with friends. There is always a great atmosphere and staff are friendly! The food is lovely, especially the funky pie! Have been here several times and always enjoy the food! Would definitely recommend!
