An Amazing Afternoon

A friend recommended this as "a rustic place for a nice lunch." It is certainly much more than that! We arrived and were greeted by our young host for the afternoon. After a short tour of the spectacular grounds and an explanation of how the place works as a centre for recovering young people we... read more

There is nothing not to like about dining at La Frateria. The entire experience, from the drive there, the grounds, the tour , the interior design and decor, the service and of course the food come together to make to make, dining at La Frateria one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. . .

You won't forget this eating adventure. The food was great, but the total experience was worth the price/trouble to drive here. The host met us at the door, and showed us the church, the fresco, the wine cellar, and explained the history of the convent. Moreover, I felt that this restaurant had a soul: the food was fresh and adventuresome.... More

If you are warned and prepared to spend 90 euros per person, before wine, for lunch, you can enjoy the beautiful and unusual ambience of this restaurant. There is no mention of the prix fixe menu and its price on the website, and after I was seated and given an unpriced menu, I inquired and was told "there are no... More

Known locally as Mondo X, this is an exceptionally fine and elegant gourmet restaurant housed in the original dungeon of an old monastery built by St Francis. Nothing has been spared in the renovation of this property. It also has rooms, but we did not stay there. A portion of the property is occupied by about 40 young people struggling... More

After booking based on a recommendation we were a little concerned that there were no prices on the restaurant website.... The philosophy sounded nice though, the restaurant is within a monastery which takes in and rehabilitates recovering addicts. They grow, cook and serve all of their own produce. We arrived to a formal welcome and were led through a beautiful... More

This restaurant is part of a beautifully restored 14th-c monastery, which offers five elegant rooms and a refined six-course dinner, also a beautiful breakfast based on their own honey and jams. Outdoors, there's a lovely, geometrically laid-out vegetable garden, lots of flowers, and a wooded wild garden in which we found wild orchids in late May; indoors, two lovely courtyards.... More
