A diamond in the ruff

I have never written an online review, however the culinary talent that the chef at the Rum House possesses is NOT one to be ignored. I had the shrimp mofongo for the first time in my life (and I'm not usually one to venture outside of my comfort zone when it comes to meals), and it was out of... read more

About 2 years ago I went to this restaurant after hiking at El Yunque and it was one of the best Mofongos I have EVER had. Forward 2 years, I was going to El yunque again and decided to stop here to revive the good moments. To my surprise, the place was empty, it looked less than great and there... More

This place was a great stop after a day in the rainforest. Asked the bartender for the drink she liked to make the most and was treated to a delicious passion fruit drink called The Rain Forest followed this with a shot from the bartender and a rum punch to go along with the sampler( chicken, mofongo balls and corn... We stopped for a late lunch at 3:30pm after our hike. out door seating was great, it was our first try at mofongo which was great. Drinks were good, enjoyed their pina colada, service was fast and friendly.

Warning, if you'd like to be in and out within 2 hours, forget it. We ordered two appetizers and two drinks, and an hour and fifteen minutes later, still no food. I finally asked the bartender if she had any clue when our food would be finished (shrimp cocktail and a salad!), and she finally went to the back, returning... More

Ate at the Rum House one evening when Barbakoa across the road was closed. It was midweek so we were basically the only people there. Very casual with an outdoor bar and dining area. Not a whole lot to look at besides the parking lot but the rain forest is beyond that so it wasn’t unpleasant. The service was prompt.... More

Mofongo was great and spicy cherries in our drinks were a fun surprise. Good music and friendly server and fellow patrons. Outside dining near El Yunque.
