Great dinner

Beautiful spot, great food, super service. Higher end, Best food we had on our trip, and our server was terrific, friendly and helpful, plus the rum shot at the end didn't hurt! Gorgeous location and convenient to the rain forest

We lucked into Barbakoa as we were leaving El Yunque rainforest too hungry to make it back to San Juan, where we had planned to have dinner. This place along the road by the river looked appealing so we pulled in. So glad we did! Ended up being the best meal of the trip with good service in a relaxing... More

This was a fantastic spot right at the base of the rain forest, with indoor or outdoor dining- with a little stream running by, we felt almost like we were eating in the rain forest. The food was very good - especially the ribs. The service was super friendly - including free Puerto Rican shots we were offered at the... More

We stopped at this restaurant on our way down from hiking in the rainforest. We had not seen any reviews, just happened to see it and we were HUNGRY! We sat under an umbrella right by the river, it was seriously beautiful and romantic! The service wasn't the fastest we've ever had, but the staff was absolutely awesome. The food.....outstanding!... We had lunch while on vacation. The food was great. The music and setting added to the enjoyment of the food. Nice people. Even the picky eaters found something. What more can I say? I wish we had tried it earlier so we could have gone more than once. I would definitely go back.

We went to this place while coming down from the rainforest. It was a perfect day to sit on the bench and enjoy our meal next to water. There hot sauce that they give on the table instead of ketchup or mustard is a must try with whatever you are planing to order. The staff is very nice and also... More

We visited this Restaurant with a large party of 9 on a spring evening and had a wonderful evening. From the first greeting to excellent service, great food - even vegetarian options. Kids ran around the yard and had a lovely time. At the end of the meal, everyone got to sign their concrete wall "guest book" which became of... More

In March, my friends/colleagues and I hiked in the rainforest from early in the morning until late in the afternoon without eating, and finding Barbakoa as we drove out of the rainforest was just what we needed. The owner went out of her way to tailor our meal to our various dietary needs and make our experience there special. We... More

We have been to Barbakoa many times. We take all our visitors, from abroad there because it has a beautiful riverside locale and the food is outstanding. Fortunately, it is also the restaurant most of them choose to repeat as their last meal in Puerto Rico. So far we have tried most of the menu. I confess I haven't tried... More

Based on the reviews, this was the only restaurant I really wanted to go to and it did not disappoint!! We popped in after our trek to La Mina Falls in El Junque Rainforest. It's right on 191. You can't miss it. We too got the cornish hen, which was fall off the bone delicious. We fought over the side... More
