Our wait staff was so very, very kind and eager to please. However, you must be warned that this is somewhat of a tourist trap to catch people on the way to or from El Yunque. We stopped in for a quick bite on the way back to the St. Regis and were surprised to see that the lunch menu... More

Hidden gem on your way to/from El Junca. Reasonably priced, but the food is just insane! Only thing better than the food were the drinks.

We stopped here on our way back to our hotel after a day in the rainforest and we were pretty hungry after hiking all day.. Our family does quite a bit of traveling and I will say that I can count on one hand the number of times I have had service this good. The food was excellent-- everything homemade... More

My husband and I were so excited to eat here after reading reviews. It is settled right in by a river, so quaint and festive. The servers were so friendly and helpful in helping us chose what to eat. The food not only looked delicious but tasted amazing! If we make our way back to Puerto Rico (which we totally... More

We enjoyed a beautiful day at El Yunque trails and waterfalls. Our guide told us about this location and boy were we happy we stopped. First off, the view and tranquil sounds of the river in front of us was amazing. We ordered some vegetarian dishes and I had the grilled chicken - everything was so fresh, amazing flavor, and... We were a party of 8 and arrived about an hour before closing. They said not to rush they would stay open as long as we needed. The service was excellent and the food delicious!!

We arrived a little late for lunch and early for dinner on a weekday-- easy to do when you have hiked into El Yunque rain forest with young children and underestimated how long it would take. But after our awesome chilly swim in La Mina Falls, we were ready for a hearty meal. Barbakoa did not disappoint. The folks there... More

We stopped at Barbakoa after visiting the rainforest just to get a drink. We decided too eat there because Janet, the owner, was so cordial and accommodating. Behind this roadside restaurant lies a most beautiful rock stream that you can wade in while waiting for your food! What a nice surprise that was! The food was delicious and you couldn't... More
