Description: Authentic Puerto Rican & Cuban Food. Many people write about it in their reviews of the Rio Mar in Rio Grande, PR. I would love to write a review about this place as it was the best Mofungo (fried mashed plantains) we had in PR (and we tried it in 4 restaurants).

This restaurant looks like nothing from the outside, but very quaint and well decorated on the inside. The food was very good and the portions were very large. My margarita was one of the best I've ever had. This restaurant is very close to the Wyndham Grand Mar. The prices were very reasonable too.

This is a good restaurant that serves local cuisine as well as some Mexican and a couple of pasta dishes (in case the family wants a variety).

On the advice of our driver we visited Don Pepe's for breakfast. It was smaller than I expected and not well air conditioned. We wanted breakfast and even though it was after their breakfast time, they were able to accommodate us. Service was a bit slow, but friendly. The pancakes weren't as fluffy as I like them but the food... More

Hands down the best fajitas I've ever had! We're staying at the Wyndham & heard this was a nice little local place down the road. We got a $10 taxi at the lobby & headed down the road. Don Pepe's is tiny, but don't let that fool you! It is very clean and nice looking. The waitresses were extremely friendly.... More

I am from Texas and wanted to find a true Puerto Rican restaurant. This place is outstanding! I had the charrasco and the best I ever had! Perfect and tender! Their homemade hot sauce is a must and bring it home! OMG my new favorite!!!!! Amazing amazing amazing!!!!

For the most part, I am very understanding when a kitchen runs busy and you have to wait for your food but the experience at Don Pepe's was extraordinarily slow and then when the food was served, it was tough and cold. We went to the restaurant, everyone was raving about the place being the one not to miss. I... More

My husband and I ate lunch here on our last day in Rio Grande. My avocado salad with steak was very tasty, just the right amount of food to feel satisfied. Too bad we didn't know about this place earlier or we would have eaten here several times.

The place doesn't have the facilities to serve the amount of people it fits sometime. We have gone a couple of times and each time with a large group and the wait time has been long even with reservations made. The quality of the food was bad with some items undercooked and some not presentable to be able to eat.... More

We went to a late dinner here one night and seemed to be the only non-locals in the place. We sat upstairs and got great service. We ordered chorizo in white wine as an appetizer and split fish mofongo. Our food was delicious and more than enough for us both. Everyone seemed very friendly and if we would have been... More

We stopped in on a recommendation by our valet attendant... Andrea had her first Mofongo, and wasn't disappointed.. I had fajitas, and they were cooked in a Teriyaki style sauce that left me licking the plate! I hope I get to go again before we leave.
