Authentic Puerto Rican & Cuban Food. Many people write about it in their reviews of the Rio Mar in Rio Grande, PR. I would love to write a review about this place as it was the best Mofungo (fried mashed plantains) we had in PR (and we tried it in 4 restaurants).

My food was salty

We arrived very late and they were still open. I ordered a chicken burrito, which was very salty. But a friend ordered the chuletas kan kan and said they were very good. Overall not a place I would visit again.

It was a very special evening and I can only say there wasn't a better place to celebrate. The food was excellent and the staff was great. We had the lobster tails with Mofongo de Yuca, coconut arepas, rice with coconut milk, fried plantains, fried fish (red snapper), geen salad, and a sangria pitcher. We will be back, definitely...

Poco A Poco.. At an Islands pace. Yes. Everything is slow except the driving.. The staff was great. We ended up eating there 3 times in our 6 day stay. The Mofungo was really good as was the rice and beans. Both staples of the Puerto Rican culture. The Garlic Chicken was just out of this world. Many Rums to... More

Had to wait to be seated, menus, for drinks, and to order. Three other tables complained about service. After an hour and 15 minutes we still had not been served. We were told by one waiter there was a party they were serving upstairs and it was slowing things down but our food was coming right out and then another... More

We walked into a virtually empty restaurant at 7pm and there was a 45 min wait by 8pm. Our service was comfortably quick and the wait staff was very polite and informative. The churassco and shrimp Mofongo were both extremely tasty and well prepared. We also had the fried cheese for an appetizer, which did not disappoint. This place also... More

We have lunch here every time we're in the Rio Grande area. The food is delicious and plentiful. We take advantage of the lunch specials since it's more economical, and have never been disappointed with the quality or options provided. This is a popular place and tends to get busy (which is a good sign, contrary to other places nearby that... recently went to don pepes and we weren't disappointed. Juan the bartender even made me a special drink with their local rum that was outstanding. I ordered the paella and it was very good. Smaller place so we made reservations and got right in. Others were waiting at door so I highly recommend this. Took other travelers recommendation on taking... More

We were staying in the area and after reading reviews decided to give it a try. We were not hungry after eating a large lunch so went for something light for dinner............first mistake. Our server was terrible! Kept pressing us to order more food even though we politely repeated that we came for appetizers only. Once orders were finally placed... More

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We were staying at the Wyndham and wanted other food than there. This is just outside the entrance and we were so happy we went. They have excellent sea food and meat selections. They have kid selections that any kid would be happy with. Oh, and the wine selection is quite nice; the temperatures are... More

We just came from Don Pepe's and we are extremely disappointed. My husband and I reserved 48 hours in advance from Baltimore, MD. We arrived around 7 and were seated around 7:15. Not a bad start as it is Friday and our reservation was for 7:30. The trouble began when we placed our order..one app and 2 entrees. App came... More
