This hotel, however, is situated right on the main street driving into Genzano, coming from Ciampino heading south, right after Ariccia. And it has a big FREE parking lot! So if you just need a place to stay over night, this is IT. The quite nice center of town with shops and restaurants is only a few minutes further down the same street. The hotel has certainly seen better times in the, let's say, sixties (there are neglected entertainment facilities in the garden, and a piano in the hall...), the rooms are simple but they are big, and so are the balconies, many of them far enough away from the street for it to be quiet.   "It was quite a way outside the town centre especially with a heavy suitcase. I arrived by bus but was not sure where to get off and there were no taxis. My first impression was that I was glad it was only for one night but after a shower things looked better. I sat on the balcony and read my book..." while listening to birds singing - the balcony was not very clean but it was pleasant. Not sure why the decor doesn't work but it just didn't do it for me.   "We got here after dark each night we stayed here, so I have no idea what is in the area. It was hard even for our local bus driver to find. The rooms are comfortable, could do with some updating, but were clean and quiet. The meals were not great. The dinner was ok and breakfast is prepackaged rolls..." and coffee. The desk clerk claimed to speak no English and was not very helpful. However if he wanted to tell you something, he communicated quite well. Transportation into Rome is inconvenient requiring several transfers, two busses and two trains we were told. A taxi was out of the question because of the expense.
