  "The hotel is perfect. The staff actually welcome you to the hotel and make you feel special. The room was clean and compact. As mentioned it has 3 swimming pools sharing 2 with the sister hotel across the road that you are free to use. The infinity pool on the top floor is awesome and he 2nd pool on..." the ground floor is hardly ever used so most days we had this pool to ourselves. The only pool we didn't use was the family pool as this was quite busy with families. The beach is literally across the road and is a blue flag which meant it was clean and sandy. The water was crystal clear. Overall it's a small town and when walking through at night you don't get hassled by the restaurants and you're free to choose at your liking. Also from the hotel was a pamphlet with walks to do. This was brilliant as it was cloudy a few days and so we ventured out.   "We have just returned from a week at this excellent hotel and resort. If its chilling out and peace and tranquillity you are after then this is ideal... If you are looking for lively nightlife and loads of organised activities then this isn't the place for you. There are about a dozen Tavernas/Res..."taurants in the resort most of them facing the sea so you can eat and drink overlooking the beach. We found the 'Ammos Bar' excellent and very friendly, ideal for a beer/coffee/cocktail and a light meal. 'Francoise' Taverna was also serves excellent coffee and snacks. There are several restaurants serving good quality meals using locally caught fish and produce. The resort has a laid back ambience and is not too commercialised. The Almyrida Beach Hotel along with its sister hotel The Almyrida Residence dominate the centre of the resort. We stayed in the more traditional Almyrida Beach.   "Staff great, rooms clean and well maintained, food good, convenient for Chania and Rethymnon. Quite village with several tavernas. Staff can organize trips and there is a small tourist "train", but a car is recommended to visit the inland villages and sights."
