Fitness centre which could basically be opened anytime there's staff available, reasonable restaurant prices (at least compared to restaurant prices at similar hotels in Zimbabwe), lots of waiters (this actually became an irritation during my stay because they kept asking me every few minutes if my food was ok, which room I was in, where I was from etc. - though this may have been because I was a woman alone) Unfortunately Check-in seemed to be a bit of a prob...   "WOW! What a surprise!"
  "I totally agree with the previous writers, the roads are INSANE! We missed the signage ( it was not! clearly indicated and ended up coming in the back way to the hotel, bit dodgey! This hotel is a beacon of comfort in the middle of NOTHING! Pretty grim area, Tete is not exactly on a "must see touri..."st list" it is merely a stop over spot on your way to somewhere else! Our check in at first was terrible and very ! slow until someone that actually was switched on and cared about customer service came to the rescue, THANK YOU Marina! Although it was the end of her shift, she stayed to oversee the arrival and facilitate a more "rapid and efficient" check in. The next day on check out, an extrememly pleasant young desk agent, Zaida and another very helpful and friendly young lady were working along with Marina, what a pleasant change from the night before. Dinner out on the patio was great, I mentioned to the manager on duty my allergy to peanuts and they went through the entire buffet... " More >

A place you would expect to find in Europe (Austria, Germany, Italy to be precise), max in Cape Town, but definitely not in Tete. It is a truly magnificent haven. I do not easily award five stars, but given the surroundings, what Monika achieved in Tete is just marvelous. Tastefully decorated, books everywhere, paintings and furniture produce a European atmosphere. The rooms are very well furnished, there is a decent WLAN, the breakfast is wonderful.
