Pierre picked us up at the airport and gave us our first tour of the island on our drive home, where Josee greeted us with the best rum punch of our entire stay and a snack of delicious bruschetta. Our room was the top story of the villa, but all the rooms have a charming view of the little bay, neighboring hills, and (of course!) the swimming pool. Josee met us on our first morning us with maps, route recommendations, and tips for the best restaurants, meals, beaches, etc. She even arranged our car rental!   "We stayed in the Caribbean Blue Suite which is at the very top of the hill on the south side of the bay. We'd recommend it to anyone, providing they don't mind being a little bit out of town (but the amazing view and privacy more than compensates!) The apartment itself is nice and consists of a ..."bedroom with air con and bathroom with big shower at the back (which is a separately secure and lockable area) and the open kitchen/sofa area at the front, which looks out on to the little pool and amazing view. The manager gave us a local mobile phone with $20 credit which was useful for calling restaurants, cabs, guest services etc. Oasis Marigot organised our cab pick up on arrival, and we organised a return trip with the same guy which was all very easy. Oasis Marigot also offer the option for food provisioning, where you complete a shopping order in advance and it is in your fridge on arrival.   "We stayed here for a week on our honeymoon and had a generally fantastic time. The location and views are unbeatable, staff are friendly and room was lovely and clean. However, we did think the hotel just needs some neatening around the edges. There was some damage in the pool which looked messy,..." a few wooden area obviously needed varnishing and just some little touches were missing, seemingly because we were in a quiet patch. There was no entertainment or activities, no hot buffet at breakfast (although this meant your choice was freshly cooked), no change of restaurant menu and often no staff for periods of time at the pool bar. Food and drink is also pricey given there are other choices in the bay. Overall though, these were fairly minor issues and we had an amazing week on a good deal as we just wanted a quiet, relaxing time together. However, be wary of the quieter times if you're after more and be warned there are a few improvements needs here answer there. " More >
