Everything is there to ensure an enjoyable time, in fact, we hardly wanted to leave the place, notwithstanding it was so cold, ( it was early winter, after all) but when you feel so relaxed and lazy, why would you? There are plenty of good restaurants around, but the kitchen is so well equipped you can do your own 'gourmet' thing. We loved the challenge of driving up down the hairpin hills, but sunrises and sunsets are so magical, with an ever changing scene, it becomes totally absorbing, we can't wait to be back there later in the year, we've already booked! Varenna is a lovely little town with loads of restaurants, cafes and character. Easy strolling along the lakeside but venture upwards to some old world ..."little villages, mule tracks and pathways will give you some real exercise! Steep gradients with some rewarding scenery and views higher up above the lake. Travel across the lake to Menaggio or Belaggio or catch another boat to either end of the lake for a longer trip.
