We just stopped over here from Milan on way to Paris for the night, and I'm always wary of small family run properties- they are unreliable and tend to swing the extremes of good and bad, depending on the mood that day, but..." this is a cheerful and beautifully done up chalet, nice lounges, sweet smell of wood fire, fresh mountain air…intoxicating. Upper floor have rooms and we got the corner, mountain facing one on the second floor. For the three of us friends, room was really tiny, one small double and a bunk but the outdoor sitout and the breathtaking view, well compensated. Had dinner, which was freshly prepared and served with a beautiful smile! Overall: Nice place that stays with you, not for the room/bathroom/food or amenities but for the sheer beauty of the locale, and the fragrances that connect you to your being, and take you back in time! I stayed at BlackRock for a triathlon training camp put together by Lizzy and Paul for my local triathlon club TriDubai. The lodge is newly built and with it comes the most modern of creature comforts (whilst still retaining a classic look and feel). Rain showers, underfloor heating, hot tub, sauna, log fire, 'snug' bar,' fantastic dinning area, and enough communal hide always to seek seclusion or socialise as a group. For our training camp we had an excellent chef brought in to keep us well feed and nutritionally balanced, on the training front Lizzy and Paul supported us with great routes, technical advice and even drove a support car when required.
