"We used Baganara as rest stop between touring the Guyana interior and moving on to Suriname and French Guiana, and found it perfect.
The rooms have a Caribbean colonial feel and the large dining and lounge area feels almost Polynesian.
Grand sweeps of manicured lawn with chairs and benches thr..."oughout make strolling a delight.
There are plenty of beach chairs and tables and the swimming is excellent. The sunset excursion to parrot island is a pleasant end to a day of lounging.
Food is excellent and service sublime. But then, we were there midweek and had the place to ourselves. We recommend visiting midweek. The place fills up on weekends. Weekdays, we were told, it is often just a few guests and some occasional day-trippers who stop by for lunch.
Baganara is a popular conference center and could easily accommodate large groups. A landing strip makes for easy access.

"A little slice of paradise. Amazing staff, great food, beautiful beach which you can have almost to yourself since and that is the beauty of it, the whole point of escape". It is a wonderful escape.
Wish they had a 9 or 18 hole golf course right at the back of the building, or even a golf drive r..."ange. Please do one if you can Baganara and I will return more often if you did :)
You can fly to the Island but I enjoyed the speed boat ride to the island to enjoy the beautiful view from the river, flew back to Ogle. just make sure you wear your life vest in the speed boat.
Will definitely return someday.

More than willing to leave you to do whatever you fancied, but also really interesting to talk to if you felt like learning about Guyanese culture. ..."It was our first point of call and certainly settled the nerves on visiting the motherland for the first time.
Apart from the great people, the beautiful view of Amazon on the other bank, and the sweet sound of nothing, there was also a table tennis table and some row boats for a bit of entertainment. I don't think you'd get bored here though.
Oh and also the food is brilliant. It's all the things my mum cooks, but with a slightly modern twist and served like your in a posh restaurant - Only with bamboo tables, an open view of the river, jungle, calypso in the background and waitresses who smile from the bottom of their hearts.
Fair to say I think, that this Island is an absolute...
