After 2 nights at Evergreen, we highly recommend transitioning for 1 or 2 nights into the Valley proper! For us the drive from our Danville home (20 miles east of SF) is less than 3 hours. So we ventured past the Lodge around noon and headed directly to the trailhead area at O’Shaughnessy Dam for the easy, in/out 5 mile roundtrip shoreline hike to Wapama Falls. The reservation system is not designed to provide this sort of service, including not being able to adequately describe the suite options, not being able to provide a floor plan from which to work, etc. To make matters all the worse, their phone system was so bad that I could barely hear what little information they could provide.
