Ours was a hiking trip. With easy access from Grayson Highlands State Park (VA), we were able to see the wild ponies along a section of the Appalacian Trail. We were so gald we took Jim's suggestion to visit Stone Mountain State Park just outside Roaring Gap NC.   "We stayed here for one night while visiting Blue Ridge Parkway. There was a very friendly greeting on our arrival and the outside of the motel looked well-maintained. Although the room was a little shabbier than the outside, it was clean and comfortable and good value for money."
