So crank open the windows and turn up the sturdy fan provided. We stayed here overnight when we had a 16 hour overnight layover at Heathrow, which is only 10 minutes away (but you don't hear a single jet here). Much more charm than an airport hotel. One caution upon arriving Hathrow: the black taxis don't like to service Staines, probably because it is too close and the fares aren't as high as going to central London, so you have to wait for a cab willing to go to Staines, and then they still charge over 50 pounds. Instead, contact the innkeeper prior to arrival and they will arrange for a loval Staines cabbie to transport you from Heath... " More >

  "On a cold and wet May evening we decided to trek no further in search of a meal when we saw the warm and cosy lounge, with relaxing settees and chairs, in this hotel/restaurant. Ordered a bottle of wine whilst we perused the menu which had many good choices of pub grub with a slight twist. O..."verall we enjoyed a very good meal and would certainly eat here again; not gourmet but quite satisfactory Service was a little OTT as we dined early and I think that they changed staff from early to late evening so we were asked, too many times, if all was OK with out meal and if we wanted anything more!!! Likewise, when we did go into the restaurant, after being assured by a member of staff that they were not fully booked and to ..............'just go in when you are ready', a different member of staff went through the........'.let me see if we can fit you in,' routine.
