"We insisted on two days at Leptis in our Libya itinerary. That was a really sensible decision - a day trip from Tripoli would have given us hardly any time at the massive site where you could actually spend 3 or more days.
The Severus hotel is brand new and really smart, by far the best place we..." stayed in Libya. Our guide Muftah nearly fell over when he saw our room! Fantastic fittings, great beds, superbly fitted bathroom, and all looking as if it might stand the test of time rather than becoming shabby within a coupe of years. Good restaurant and even a teahouse on site.
Stay here, take your time over Leptis, and if you can get Muftah Abousheena as a guide then say hello from Gareth and Stephanie!

The hotel is situated on the Tripoli-side of town, around a kilometre from the town centre and 4 kms from the ruins themselves. You can get there by taxi or by public transport. A taxi there should cost no more than 3 Libyan dinars. Alternatively, cross the road and flag down a small minibus. It will take you to the town centre (for a quarter dinar); from there you need to take another minibus, which will drop you opposite the main entr...
