"We visited Cabbage Key for lunch as part of the Tropic Star cruise to Cayo Costa. Having read previous reviews, my expectations were not very high but figured it's only a lunch stop. Our boat captain provided recommendations for the beans and rice with blackened mahi which I ordered. It was the b..."est tasting lunch I have had in a long time. Our other choice of course was the 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' which was also fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful and the facility meticulously maintained. I cannot think of a better way to spend an hour or two to get an appreciation of ''old Florida'. Service was also top notch. Considering the remoteness of Cabbage Key, I consider the cost of lunch to be a real bargain.

Hours later we heard a boat & Rob Wells (owner of Cabbage Key) & our friend had come back in a boat to rescue us! We made it back safely where Phyllis Wells met us with dry towels & a big smile. Did I mention that our friends & children were enjoying crab claws & grilled cheese at Cabbage Key while waiting out the sto...
