  "We went to the JW Marriott for a wedding May 6, 2013. The rooms were lovely, but some, like ours lacked any view. Our "garden view" was to a rooftop lawn- but most faced the pool. The pool is really great- lots of nooks to feel private in, and open 24/7- so that was great. The staff was amazing- s..."ince the resort was not busy, they quickly learned our names and family, and went out of their way to be helpful. The ocean is beautiful to look at, but the water was quite rocky in most places close to the resort. We went into Tamarino and swam and surfed there. The breakfast buffet was terrific and suited all our family, with lots of different choices, and it varied daily. The Steak house was superb. All in all we really enjoyed ourselves. " More >

  "The resort is stunning. Beautiful rooms with luxury furnishings including marble, plush beds, dark wood furniture. It sits on a small bluff overlooking ocean. Service was very friendly and great - especially for Costa Rica. Pool huge and well maintained. Kids club lovely with nice staff and quality..." activities. Typical resort prices - high with lots of fees. But quality food and cocktails. But, it is NOT on an idyllic beach. Limited sand. Tons of rocks. No boogie boarding, surfing, sand castles, or even swimming. Minimal families at the resort. Caters to older couples and conferences. Very American (typical Marriott) with all English and dollars. Feels like any Marriott - like being in California instead of a really Costa Rican experience. Tamarindo is a pretty beach with a fun town but full of annoying peddlers. It is a single surfer party town with lots of trinket stores. So, this is a great resort for adults looking for quiet luxury who want to look at and walk on the ... " More >
