When I booked I thought that it was walking distance to the waterfall but in the CR heat it is more of a drive or bike instead since the waterfall park is about ..."4 km from the hotel and then u still have to hike to the waterfall. The back yard of the hotel has a great view of the volcano and also is a great place to see lots of birds int eh early morning and evening 6-8 am 5-6 pm. They have a trail leading to a river in the back but the trail is not well cared for so be careful but the cold river is a nice spot for a little nature adventure. We saw the red jean frog here. The rooms have a fridge and air conditioning and Tv and the occasional mini little gecko (don't worry they're harmless)/ The hotel does not serve food after the breakfast meal but does offer a few beers and drinks for $2 each. We were very pleased with all of these excursions. We stayed in the Mariposa cabin. All of the cabins have views, but from what I could see, Mariposa and Heliconia house are probably the least desirable locations. Our view of the volcano was off the side of the porch, and we could also see the road and electrical wires. Not a big deal, but just be aware when booking. These are cabins in the jungle, so don't expect 5-star luxury. That's not a complaint, by the way (especially at the price point). We personally wanted an authentic experience.   "Located on the edge of the very small downtown area this hotel provided a quiet and comfy room. It had a tv and air conditioning and a safe. Out room did not have a fridge. Bkfst was included and u can choose the type: continental, american, granola. Ours came with fruit, toast, eggs, jam, juice and..." coffee. The fresh fruit was tasty. Across from the hotel is a mini mart and a laundry place where she charges 1800 colones per kilo of laundry weighted after it is washed. She washed a large bag for us and had it done in 2 hrs and we wished we had just done that and packed less clothes and thus had less luggage. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. the computer in the lobby had a poor internet connection and was slow but we didn't really need it. The staff answered all my questions and one lady in particular took the time to chat with us and make sure we felt at home. the bird watching was not good since we were in town but when u sit at bfst u have a nice view of the volcano and u are...
