The restaurant is really good value and I recommend it strongly. There is a picturesque cathedral across the road which serves as a good landmark as it has an easy to spot cupola near the hotel. There is a lot of cultural activity in the nearby park- there are restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, ice cream shops, a travel agency, a Pizza Hut and anything else you could possibly want nearby. The best thing about this hotel is the incredibly helpful staff. Alajuela is far more pleasant than San Jose and it was a pleasant surprise to find an airport hotel in a district that was interesting in itself.   "This was the last stop for my husband and I's trip to Costa Rica. Our travel agent booked this hotel for us and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised when the owner picked us up from the Interbus stop and drove us to the hotel. He upgraded our room to the fancy suite which ha..."d a beautiful view of San Jose from our balcony. We only stayed one night but enjoyed every minute. There is a coffee plantation on the grounds which is free to explore. I had never seen coffee growing before. They have a nice restaurant, bar and pool area. All of the staff were very nice and accomodating. We didn't need to go to the airport til the evening and they willingly held our luggage for us. We had booked a trip to Poas and an employee of the hotel drove us there at 7:30 am so we could be there when it opens. The morning is the best time to see the volcano where it isn't covered in clouds. The park also gets a bit crowded being that it is so close to San Jose for travelers coming or... " More >
