The rubbish island is no issue whatsoever the only way i can desribe this is...its like living round the corner from a rubbish tip, you know its there but it doesnt affect you in any way. Dont let this put you off in a..."nyway. We stayed in the Sunset Spa villa which was very nice, its a little bit of a walk but we enjoyed this about it. The room was lovely & clean and i cant falter it. All 3 restaurants are very good and offer a decent selection of food. The thai was our favourite but make sure you book atleast a day in advance as they are only small and get booked up quickly. If you can afford to do it have the beach private dinner, we opted for the 5course seafood dinner and it was perfect & the food was delicious.   "We stayed here for 4 nights. Plus: Pick up and return is very well organized. Nice boat trip from the airport to the main city. It takes 10 minutes. Clean and quiet place. Good food / restaurants for locals where you pay a local rate. €3 for lunch/dinner is possible. The hotel gave us a big roo..."m with a table and chairs, we arranged some cuterly and ate in our rooms two times. No problem at all :) Try the mini mangos. They are great!! Also as a juice :) Min: There is no tourist beach for swimming. Woman cannot swim in whole Male. Except in the resorts. Staff doesn't speak decent English, except the two brothers who are managing the hotel. I would recommend to book a resort if you want to be at a white beach. But thats very expensive. We visited a resort as day visitors for $125 (transfer & lunch buffet). Male main city isn't a 'must see' but it gives a good impression of how the real inhabitants of Maledives live. " More >

  "Stayed here for a night since our flight arrived at 10pm in Male for our Maldivian grand vacation. We were greeted by a man with the hotel sign and showed us to the speedboat. A pleasant man but not sure if he understood me. It was a quick ride abt5 mins to the dock closest to the hotel. Then we had..." to walk towards the hotel passing a Thai restaurant and it smelled yummy! The reception was nice and quick. They also have wifi! The room was small but pretty cute. I love the glass showers! We also caked out the rooftop bar and pool since the cool night air was nice. We ordered drinks and forgot that alcohol is not allowed in the city! Yikes! A cold alcoholic drink would have been nice after a 20 hr flight to the country. We also walked to the nearest grocery to buy snacks for our next resort. The reservation comes with breakfast and it was pretty decent. I can't complain. The hotel arranged my transfer to our final destination so it was a breeze. All in all its a pretty good choi...
