  "We just had a good visit here. Got a fair price from Ctrip and a very comfortable room. A large diverse breakfast provided every morning enhanced the experience. Three major drawbacks were i) people still smoking in their rooms, leaving the doors open intentionally for "air" and the smoke permeating..." the halls and into the other "non-smoking" rooms; ii) no wireless in the room, iii) the sauna, jacuzzi and pools were for males only. How old school can you get? So my wife and I never used them. Still a little questionable but woulld stay here again as the beds were comfy and large and you can see at one point it was a 4 star place, now nostalgia looms large so that adds some charm I suppose.   "I wanted to take the family for a short weekend getaway and decided on this hotel. Just under a two hour train ride from Shanghai, the hotel is about a 15 min taxi ride from the Shaoxing Station. On arriving at the car park of the hotel, signs are not clearly obvious for directions to the reception...." Get off at the archway of the car park and let the bell hop know you are checking in and wait for the golf buggy to transport you in. The grounds of the hotel are wonderfully kept. The old stone houses are well maintained and the gardens are carefully looked after. The hotel compound is surrounded by a river and on checking in, the hotel reception will provide a ticket for a free boat ride together with your keys. Rooms are modern and clean and interior decor is very Chinese. Main doors are the traditional wooden doors with big rings for door handles and padlock is the only way to lock the doors ! Only downside is we wished for sofas in the living rooms as long hours of sitting can ... " More >
