These beach boys are very poor with little hope of a proper job as us in the west. So they have to try to make some money trying to sell trips of bits on the beach. Local buses were impossible to catch from here & staff not that helpful to find your way around without use of taxi or personal guides, but it can be done! Other hotel guests gave me a few pointers. A few local attractions are near, but avoid the alligator park-its well known they are not well cared for & end up as handbags. Heller Park is not far & a much better alternative. Overall I'd recommend this only for a few days sunbathe & relax before carrying on rest of your kenyan holiday. " More >

  "Although my tenth visit to Mombasa this was my first time at the Bamburi Beach Hotel. The staff at the hotel are great, nothing is too much trouble. Mercy has the dining room well organised and is a credit to her job. It is nice to see chef's checking the food and actually cooking in the dining room...". Ahanga's naan bread is ace which he cooks in a tandoor. Food is quite good considering they are catering for so many different tastes. My OH was hooked on the late afternoon pancakes. Although the hotel needs a little TLC the staff more than make up for this. Stacey our Thomson rep was such a laugh and we enjoyed having a drink with her. The location is ideal right on the beach. Don't be afraid of the beach boys they are just trying to earn a living and you can get some good deals there.
