  "We arrived in Male in the sweltering heat and were greeted by Lisa and Zinah at the airport. After completing some forms we walked across the street to the Donhi (The dive boat that accompanies the safari boat the Horizon III). We met all the other guests and the crew and it was a very good atmosp..."here. We unpacked the dive gear while we waited for the remaining guests to arrive and then the dhoni left the dock and we moved to our home for the next two weeks, the Horizon III. She is a beautiful boat and you can tell she was designed as a safari boat with lots of input from the Swiss Star Divers team of Herve and Lisa. The ship is very comfortable and also has all the amenities you will need. We had cabin number 4 which is in the front and is a double room with en-suite. The problem with the room was that the Aircon was not working very well as they were waiting for a spare part. But other than that it was very nice.   "Diving on Ellaidhoo is great. The house reef is really nice and is accessible any time of the day. As long as you have a buddy, you don`t need a guide but if you don`t have one (like me) then you can either pair up with another diver (I joined some German divers twice and had a great time) or pay fo..."r the guide to go with you. Charge for the guide is not excessive and actually has many pros. They know very well where the best parts of the reef are so you don`t miss anything. When you go on a boat trip there are always guides diving with you and if you have no buddy of your own,then you buddy up with one of them. I did 12 dives in total 5 of which on the house reef. My favourite dives were Maaga Inside Corner for beautiful macro life, nice landscape and perfect coral in the shallow water, Kiru Thila for the fabulous mantas and house reef at the sunrise. Boat dives normally combine a spot for big fish such as sharks, rays, napoleons, tunas where there isn`t spectacular reef (usually) and ... " More >
