  "We got a cheap deal through wotif so weren't expecting much but as we were only staying one night we didn't mind. When we got there we were very confused as there were no signs to say where to check in - it turns out you have to check in with the bar staff at the bar which felt a little odd. However...", they were very friendly and the room given was very nice - small but very clean and recently done up. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we both got a good night's sleep. The food at their restaurant was excellent too. There were no tourist information leaflets provided anywhere in the hotel and the info centre on the highway and in the centre are both closed, and as the staff didn't know the wifi password we had to spend tedious time looking for things to do on our phone, but apart from that we were very happy with our stay at the royal, especially for the price we paid.   "We stayed here (me, my partner and 2 year old daughter) for 2 nights at the end of February 2013 but were supposed to be staying in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast! We were travelling on holiday from Hervey Bay to Sydney but due to persistent, heavy rain got stuck in Gympie (roads north and sout..."h flooded and impassible). This was the only accomodation with one room available that we could access. We stayed in a small single room with noisy air conditioning. The staff were extremely helpful and moved a 2nd single bed into the room so we all had somewhere to sleep. The shared bathroom was okay but fairly basic and could've been cleaner - bins overflowing. There was a good variety of buffet options (including vegetarian) at breakfast and evening meal so we were well catered for. Even though it rained persistently our daughter enjoyed swimming in the pool as there wasn't anything else to do!   "I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago and having stayed again a fortnight ago it is still the same clean, friendly place that we remembered. It still has the "hole in the wall" for the breakfast tray in the morning which my kids love. The staff are very friendly and very helpful and the rooms super c..."lean. I have stayed in plenty of 5 star places but the Muster would have to be the cleanest. The recent renovation has breathed new life into the place but it still has the same country charm. If I had one complaint it would be the old air-conditioners are a bit noisy but that is being picky. Don't be put off by the Street facade, this place is a gem. " More >
