I recommend booking tours with Alex on the Beach. ..."As name states you can find a rep on the beach in front of the hotel. Check out the other tour operators INSIDE the HOTEL BEFORE booking !!!!!. TAM was NOT on tripadvisor and I paid the price. For full disclosure I did go back down and ask why they sold my son in law this package. Their explanation was they told my son in law "it was a local town with local shopping" . I expect a tour operation to provide a little more advice like " this is a town with nothing to see or do!!!". For Dinner go down early ask to get on seating list, most restaurants do not take reservations. At peak time the wait times are 30 to 45 mins. parties over 6 are very difficult to seat expect to be split up. " More >

  "My wife and I went on our honeymoon to the Riu Palace on June 8th-13th. This place is amazing!! The resort is new, built in November. The room are large and very modern. The staff is VERT friendly and took care of our every need. The food was top shelf and the drinks never stopped. The pools a..."re the best I've seen at a resort. The only negative would be the beach...the black sand and dark water is not what I like. If you plan on booking excursions book them with Carlos at the beach. The hotel excursions are a lot higher and they tell you not to book with the people on the beach. We booked with Carlos and had no issues at all. Book the sunset cruise with him.....absolutely stunning trip. You won't go wrong by going to the Riu Palace. " More >

  "The Riu Guanacaste was a great resort! We stayed from June 11th until June 17th and could not have asked for a better experience in Costa Rica. The hotel is a great option for an all-inclusive resort, and would recommend the hotel to anyone looking to travel to this part of the country. The food was..." great considering how much they have to prepare. The one negative i would have about the food is that there is no real opportunity to have local food at the hotel. If you want this experience you will need to travel outside of the resort. I would also recommend booking excursions through Alex on the Beach. They are located on the beach by the resort and were amazing! We booked two excursions with Sergio, Joe, and Umberto and they were all great! " More >
