The staff at the hotel are exceptional - very friendly, efficient and helpful. The location is spot on and..." there is a Sainsbury's supermarket opposite and other restaurants / pubs in easy walking distance. The hotel is right near the castle. The only (small) issue we encountered was 'screaming' pipes when using the shower. There do seem to be some water pressure issues and we also encountered this when we stayed in January 2013. Having said that, the shower was still pretty decent despite the noise. There is a Brewers Fayre restaurant associated to the hotel - the standard of food here isn't great but its a pleasant enough place for a drink and a snack. " More >

  "We strongly recommend Hillcrest Cottage. It is centrally located and served us as a base while touring Ireland. It is easy to access and the roads are excellent. We slept very well - probably due to the sound-deadening effect of the 24" thick walls. Also, we really liked the dutch door - a place t..."o lean on while enjoying a glass, and the view, after a hard day touring. Loved watching the wild pheasants and the horses being pastured. Norma and Bob are friendly and helpful hosts - even going as far as to supply a son-in-law to help dig us out when we became stuck in the snow dumped by the worst weather system in 75 years. Our daughter & family stayed at Hillcrest in 2010 and strongly echo our sentiments. The high quality is the same now as it was then.
